New Evinrude 250HO

Will my 250 HO with the 1.85 gear ratio be slower than last years model? Can I compensate with a higher pitch prop?Based on the prop calculator Ill lose about 4 mph unless I go from a 28 pitch to a 30.Buy the way Ill be running a new Eyra.

no data hardly on them most are struggling with top end setups so far with the 1.85 gear ratio. Makes sense going larger to get speed back bt after about 27 pitch my understanding is the slippage starts going way up as well. not really sure of why but i am sure there is a formula for it. Let us know how it does

Ill try and post some pics when I get them. It should be up on facebook soon. From what Ive heard the hull is ready, Bass cat is waiting on the motor.

I would say the issue isnt the ratio so much as the case to me.1.86 worked fine on the 225HO- Id say actually great.Why not the 250HO?Either magnum gears or the case design.If mine goes Im beggin for a remand L2.C.O.D. Jr. III

Scott its hard to say really as you(I think?) will be the first with a 250HO on this hull. There seem to be some hulls that like the new ratio and lower unit. There seem to be others that do not.I honestly think that a 250HO driven by an experienced driver with a motor taking full advantage of the displacement of this motor could set some serious benchmarks around here this summer. No question the holeshot and midrange will be outstanding so in that regard I would hardly describe performance as poor.I have considered it myself but I am not sure I am that I am a good enough driver over 82 to get that done with that motor.80 scares me enough in my puma. It doesnt walk but you are just covering water so damn fast. Heck just slowing down requires you stay on the gas and just trim down first.C.O.D. Jr. III

Dude you will HARDLY have Poor Performance with ANY V6, much less a 292hp 250 HO on the back, and that # is TRUE, All you will need to do is MAYBE have the Lower Unit Modded WHICH DOES NOT VOID YOUR FACTORY BRP WARRANTY…..Its right in the verbage “LWP Low water pickups will not void warranty”, I always spell his name wrong but Tinus at Marine welding is a Master, Bobs Machine shop, but Id go for longevity by having a anal retentive guy weld her up…….Tinus is a master, that way you can extend the Bullet, and Jack her to the moon for 85+speeds……Any question I have the ETEC hookups up here in Northern Illinois, Waukegan,Sturtevant, is right up the road and my Bros develop the Evilrudes……Brannon 847-450-4011

Talkin with denny seems to be a couple mph difference with the new lower unit. makes up for it with the better holeshot and mid range. But that was his first trip out so he may find a lil more. But i dont think he will ever see the 82-83 he saw with the 171 gear case. but he isnt fighting holeshot either.

Heres hoping the Etec boys are getting this right for their customers. This has been a great thread to read.
