Hey guys I need your help! Ive owned my cat (2008 Pantera Classic) for about a year now and I STILL havent learned how to drive thru the the walking. The person I purcahsed the boat from and the guys in my bass club have no problem driving thru the walk. But I cant seem to figure it out!! Ive been told that Im over steering. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!!! Ive read all the post on chime walking and Ive tried them all but it doesnt seem to work for me. Any advice would greatly appreciated.

Large lake where you dont have worry about any turns. Steer just to the left of the bow, but go straight ahead. If you have a Trophy prop, use it as it is a little more forgiving for mistakes in steering. Go by feel.

I running a 200 Mercury with a 27 Tempest. It was set up when I bought the boat. The guy I bought the boat the boat from could get 75 mph, but I cant get over 65 before trimming down.

You are overtrimming. Just take off trimmed down and bumpk the trim slowly as you move up. Slow touches on the trim as you learn to get better then you will find yourself in no time getting it. Though dont try to get there all at once, take your time. You dont drive through it, you learn how to trim and slowly manage it.

Im learning it myself. Ive found I am learning better by creating a method.Open it up and trim up till its hitting about 65 mph top speed. Bump the trim up (I mean one bump as little amount as possible). Boat will pick up speed to about 67 mph. Run there for 10 – 15 seconds. Make another bump. speed picks up to 68 mph. Run it 15 second or so. Make another bump – again only a bump as little as possible. Each time the boat picks up speed by 1-2 mph. After each bump run it for 15 seconds or so before bumping up again “even if you feel comfortable”. If it starts walking bump it back down. Then try bumping back up again but this time squeeze the wheel toward the left ever so slightly. It has to all work smoothly. Baby steps…create a method to the madness.

You should have seen my son Justin trying to drive the Cougar this weekend , it would have made you feel GOOD ! We all have to learn, but the point is not to drive thru it, but prevent it. Its just seat time with a good driver showing you how to do it, thats all.
