any word on what happened??
There is a statement over on bass boat central on this from Basscat http//bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zerothread/413201-new-cougarpumas-spinning-out-tossing-drivers
A nasty mess happened the 1st day shortly after takeoff in a shallow chute that opens up into some backwater. I hope and pray that the guy has a full recovery. He got busted up real bad. River systems are very very dangerious. Shallow water, stumps, trees and tractor tires floating just under the water, barges, locks & dams strong current, etc. Joyriding is dangerous business.

So is bass fishing in general…………pro/semi-pro/amatuer anglers can get into accidents as well as joyriders. Hope the guy does well.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Martys marshall was not the one that was banged up, it was Derik Remitz that hit something and ejected his marshall to dry land and banged him up real bad!! Derik drives a —- boat!!BAYOU BANDIT
Guys, I received a call from Marty on Saturday explaining the incident and what actions he took. Apparently one of the following boats nearly ran over the Marshall, and did not yield. Possibly that boat is felt to have been the first boat in the line upon the accident. There really was not an impact or loss of control, though we understand a jostling of the Marshall who was not locked in and got ejected in the wake crossing. We have not spoken to others about this outside of Marty and have no comment on the incident other than for us to express our understanding. Rick Pierce
Yea, it was Derik Remitz. It was on the BASS website. Both guys ended up in the woods. The guy was knock out for 20 minutes. The pros that were involved stopped and were praying for him. ** Marty is a class act. He was busy sitting in his boat writing something Saturday and discussing business with some other pros. Made me chuckle when I overheard him say to one of the other guys as I was walking up something along the line that NO body could out-run my boat. My wife insisted on getting his picture. As we walked up to his boat he dropped what he was doing for pics and autographs. I think he would of talked to us till the sun went down. Seeing that he was busy and had a long three days I had to pull my wife away. Kevin was very gracious too. He was in his truck driving away when my wife spotted him and went running waving her hands in the air like he forgot something. He spotted her and stopped his truck, got out for pics and autographs. Wow! The others were great too. I dont have enough room here to put it all down. BCB has a great team!
Marty is taking this one on the chin, though he has no intent to tell his side of the story. From first others and footage, he is not wrong in his actions. After we spoke to several others, it appears that there was a barge wake looming well behind the long passed barge. The forward boat was dodging that wake looking for clean water and accidentally cut Marty off. It was just an incident, that placed Marty in evasive action, and his Marshall apparently was not holding on and when they impacted the barge wakes, he bounced out. Pretty simple. There is plenty more to this story, and video tape recording of anglers comments at the scene, as well as comments in process from angler (s) who were penalized. Plus the whole field was in that area, as K Short was out front, with a second angler in front of Marty, and apparently a good portion of the remaining field witnessing this situation. Since they had jsut popped out of the lock, most were behind the incident. If the comments on video were to be released, the anglers would be publicly persecuted. Trip misses some calls no doubt. Though in this one he has the Marshalls from each of the professionals themselves, the Elite anglers opinions, and the opinions of those who where in line behind and came upon the incident. Trip had plenty of time and LOTS of input to make a good call on this one. He had time to make a good call against the anglers and plenty if not too much witness input. From all we understand on this one, there was a great deal more to this than will ever be printed. BCBLast edited by Bass Cat Boats on June 22nd, 2009, 12:19 am, edited 1 time in total.
