Thought I have read somewhere that you can run a 36 volt trolling motor and the starting battery off of only 3 batteries.In other words 3 batteries total to run everything… does anyone have a diagram for this if it can be done??? Thats the way my Jag is set up. Never had a problem with it. Ill bet somebody has a schematic for it somewhere.

Done it before, very little problems, I would just recommend carrying some jumper cables just in case batteries is too low to crank the engine. I have a sketch, just cant get it to attach to the reply. Add your email and Ill send it to you.

Just talked with the guy I got my boat from and he said he had a problem with electrolysis on the trolling motor shaft when he first got the boat. BCB got him straightened out but he couldnt remember exactly what the problem was. Thinks he added a ground wire somewhere. As I said, I havent had any problems since I got it.

Ive never run anything but a 3 battery setup in my BCBs, and Ive been doing it for over 15 years, with NO problems. HOWEVER, I am a fanatic about getting big batteries in my boats. I run 3, SCS 225 Trojans, and based on BCBs input, will make my cranking battery a 30 series AGM next year. You cannot run a 24 series cranking battery these days, with all the 12v accessories we run, and expect not to run it down. I love my 3 battery set up. Be sure to wire it so that the negative post of the cranking battery is your common ground, and you should be fine.Mike Whitten/Germantown, TN
