BCB, I was wondering if you guys have switched from UPS to Fed Ex now? Past orders have come Fedex ground and those folks are so slow. I always got UPS in two days but Fedex is 4 to 5 days and thats without weather as a factor. Do you have the option to use either?
I have received my last few orders via FedEx as well and I agree they are extremely slow compared to UPS. Even USPS Priority mail IMO has been faster than FedEx! They are asleep at the wheel.DanGRR884 wrote:BCB, I was wondering if you guys have switched from UPS to Fed Ex now? Past orders have come Fedex ground and those folks are so slow. Fedex Air is great but Fedex ground sucks. Not at all uncommon for them to call my house and leave me message that they couldnt find my home. lol Fedex ground drivers come out of Indianapolis 50+ miles away and you never have the same driver. Our UPS comes from our home town and you always have the same driver.I would pay more to use UPS if that was option.
I have also found UPS far superior to Fed Ex.BrianBrianHAWG Hunter2013 BassCat Eyra2013 Mercury 250 Pro XS Gen2 L/U
FedX Ground has been slow since they took over RPS ground service who used independent contractors for pick up/deliveries. RPS sucked out loud. I cant count the times theyd show up with an U-haul type truck with the deck well below dock level to pick up a few skids of boxes. Theyd want my staff to help load which we would if we could load the full skid with a lift truck but werent going to tie up staff for an hour to load box by box. Theyd tie up my dock for hours. That was over 10 years ago and it sounds like not much has changed. Those of us in the industry thought there would be an improvement when FedX bought them out but there wasnt much of one. FedX continued as RPS did with independents so they have only limited control over deliveries much of the time. Anyway, many of the delivery drivers are independent contractors who have to own/maintain their own vehicles and their assignments/routes change all the time. At least they used to. Where as UPS drivers work for UPS and UPS owns/maintains the trucks. To home or business, UPS is the way to go. USPS can hold their own too.
Im going to take crazy guess here and assume it costs less.
Scott, You may well be right but as a company that ships a lot of packages your shipper better be proficient as it will be a reflection on you. For some small packages like the stuff I have ordered from BCB my guess is USPS Priority would be cheaper and it would get to me most of the time in 2 days from AR. I have a supplier for some rubber dampening items I use in manufacturing a string suppressor that is in ID. I have them ship USPS Flate Rate Priority because it is cheaper than UPS or FedEx and has always beat them on delivery times as well. USPS does not deserve the flack they catch most of the time. I do over $10,000 a year with them and have for the last 8 years. I can count on one hand the packages they have lost. I only remember 2.DanStar1021Scott wrote:Im going to take crazy guess here and assume it costs less.

Help me understand how they arent on the same playing field? If FedEx or UPS was run like the USPS they would be out of business.

The postman may deliver it but it got their from the originating post office via UPS.
