This is my first glass boat and Ive read a lot on here regarding what can happen if one doesnt pay attention to the bottom of the boat. I uncovered mine today and spent some time underneath it. I knew I had a couple gouges/chips but really didnt know what to look for. A closer examination and it appears to me either me or the one of the previous owners got this up on a rock or two while fishing. It was probably me as Ive been known to go “four wheelin” on occasion but my last boat had a thick aluminum hull. Anyway, pictures below. Let me know how bad this is and should I get it repaired like immediately or soon or whenever. I dont do long speed runs but run around at 50 – 55 alot. It appears to me that the digs got through the first shell and the 2nd level is showing. The first picture is of a chip on an outside strake. The 2nd is on the front part of the pad about 3-4 back from the front of the pad. Thanks.

Yep those need to be filled. They are through the gelcoat into the glass/mat.

Something one can do on their own or need a pro? With no experince, probably better off getting it done. Anyone know a good glass man in the Albany NY area? Bens at Brookcove Marine who used to sell BassCat does it but it takes forever to get anything done there. I can check with the new BCB dealer in Schenectady. Got to go over there tomorrow anyway.

Yeah, thought of him also. Was looking for something down this way if I could find someone. You get my note the other day? Champlain is a mess. Started the motor today, started instantly. Nikys my wrench too from now on. Know a couple other guys on Champlain who use him too. He has a good following. Thanks again for the referral. I may have him send out my Trophy Plus 26P after I change over to the Fury. The 26P will be my back up prop. Im selling my 27P. Dont need three props…. He told me who ever he uses for prop work tuned yours pretty good and really improved the performance. He didnt mention how much though… Care to share?
