Pantera III replaced the Pantera II. It was very popular for big water applications. The Pantera II is back in service in the newer styling. The Pantera IV was a whole different Pantera and has loads of storage. Both perform well with 200 hp engines, best performance will be with 3.0 liters, not 2.5 liter engines. The 3.0 liters have the low end torque to get these boats going…… The Pantera III has the older built in console, whereas the P IV has the modular consoles. Thus, you cannot add a passenger console to a PIII unless it was built that way. The boats are very stable and user friendly, wont be as fast as the Classic or P II, but wont be last either. The Cougar and FTD started out as just Cougar only. It was a lightweight(so to speak) hull from the Jaguar. Again, the original Cougars had floor mounted consoles. The FTD came out in 2003 with modular consoles and the Cougar was retired in favor of the FTD. FTD is “Full Team Deck”, which could be had with an original Cougar by getting the flipping deck insert. The Cougar/Cougar FTDs are bad boys, requiring seat time to get the best efforts out of it.
