Thank you for all the replies on my last question about the compartment locks.Im now installing a few things such as dual power-poles, going from a 24v trolling motor to a 36v trolling motor, and upgrading to a 4 bank charger. Can anyone with an Eyra with a similar setup post some pictures showing where they have mounted items such as the power-pole pumps and the 4 bank charger. Thank you again!
I dont have pictures at the moment but my charger and power pole pump is mounted in the port side of the bilge in the storage tray. I only have one but Im pretty sure there is room there for both pumps and the charger. If not, you can mount the charger on the inside of the transom in the bilge and you can put your pumps in the storage tray. One other bit of advice is that with adding all of that weight in the back of your Eyra you may want to consider going down an inch in pitch in your prop. Of course you can always try what you have first and then if its too slow for you then go down in pitch. Good luck and enjoy those power poles!! I use mine every single fishing trip!Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
Thanks to Kevin Short I have a loaded Eyra- 2 poles, 4 AGM trojans. However, I wouldnt mount that charger in there for all the money in this town. You just gonna need to get it out a some point and thats gonna be a PITA. I use a lester 3 bank for trollers that plugs in up front and a single bank for the back. Kevins former boat does have a 1 bank installed Ill get you pics of. The port pump is in the storage bin, starboard is on the seat pole, charger up against the transom. To me one of the absolute necessities of these boats is full acess to all that matters while you are on the water and if I dont need it on the water I dont friggin want it in there.C.O.D. Jr. III
Ward, The lester charger you speak of, How big is it and do you find it convenient to travel with. I have considered keeping my 4 bank in for when Im on the road and using buying the lester at the house which is where I do most of my charging. I already have a single bank portable that I use often to “top” the batteries off because I find my onboard doesnt bring that big 31 series AGM all the way up as it should.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
I have a Lester 2 bank charger. Its very good, charges quickly. Downside is that it is a beast. Not really handy for traveling, but I have taken it with me on trips before. I usually just use my on board charger.
Thanks for the replies. I have a few ideas now to get started. One other question – What is under the storage areas in the battery compartment?
The lester I own travelled with Kevin for all of his last year of elite events. He loved it. Still owns a boat without an onboard last he and I spoke.I travel with a suburban so travelling to me just isnt a problem no matter how big it is? Used to also travel with a minn kota 4 bank on clips and I could set it in a bag(Luke Difulcos idea) in the bilge and leave back lid cracked. I just dont get folks wanting one on board. You can add all the time it takes to apply 4 clips for charging versus just plugging in something and if you have one charger issue that requires removal Ill be miles ahead as far as I am concerned. No worrying if the latest versions fits the screw holes your boat already got, no crawling around in a hot ass bilge in July trying to take all those nuts off, moving all those hoses, and getting all those screws out to get back there. Not to mention what you gonna do when the thing goes down???….Thats right….you gonna buy a non built in charger while you try to decide what to do.Last edited by clownshoes on June 29th, 2016, 12:37 am, edited 1 time in total.C.O.D.
