Not sure why. It will absorb any water in the bottom of the tank, and then mix with the gas letting the water eventually burn as it goes thru the motor. But alcohol only contains 70% of the energy an equivalent volume of gasoline has. With 10% ethanol, you are losing 3% of the total energy per gallon of gas. If you just pour a quart of isopropyl into the tank, I cant imagine any good effect other than absorbing any moisture that might have built up in the tank. Unfortunately once alcohol absorbs water, it can break down into an acidic mess that has harmful effects on soft parts in the fuel system such as gaskets, lines, o-rings, diaphrams, etc.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
