Looking at the Scedule. I like the diverse format. All these lakes gives us a chance to fish different types of water. 1: Ouachita- Large lake with all types of structures, dephs, and water clarity 2: Millwood- Large lake that is shallow, stumpy, dirty, and has some really good fish in it. OH! Lets not forget the GATORS. Lol!! Fipping, Pitching and frogging mans dream. 3: Greers- Like Ouachita, we all know this lake. Ecxept being able to catch and weigh in some good smallies. 4: Dardenelle- Again we are all familliar with this water. River system with some deep holes, dirty in most areas, diverse fishing structures 5: Hamilton- Urban fishing. We all know about the latest big fish catches that happen here.
We think the Ozark Division has long overlooked the Arkansas River going back to Redman events.
From what I remember when I fished tourneys, it seemed like most Central Arkansas clubs basically fished that same group with the exception of Millwood. Most interjected several river tourney sites instead of Millwood, claiming it was too far. Our club fished Millwood a couple of times when I was there, definitely adds an “x” factor to the traditional circuit.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Heres how a non Garland Co person sees this schedule-As usual they play to SW Arkansas Ranger Owners- but it does work for em!Ouachita- same story different verse. Arig will win unless it gets cloudy. Millwood- local jackpot event. Lotsa torn up stuff. Too far to drive to frequently practice unless of course you are from SW Arkansas once againGreers- I like this one. Always MUUUUCCCHHHH tougher on day of derbyDardanelle- fun to watch Ouachita guys struggle.Hamilton- pull the plug and start over. Stankhole. Why in samhell no one in this state goes to Bull Shoals is beyond stupid. Oh wait!!! all the locals that cant do poo outside of their usual network of friends and usual circuit of the same spots every year over and over wont work there! Damn! We might have to actually PATTERN some fish C.O.D. Jr. III
That schedule should hurt the BFL,,,,,,I wouldnt go back to Millwood, or Hamilton ! http://www.americanbassanglers.com/BWS/ … berOnly=12THIS is a schedule all should like ! Then Ft. Gibson for Regionals, the Old Hickory for Nationals ! Sounds FUN !Last edited by dbasketman on October 25th, 2012, 1:48 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Point well taken Ward.Like I said, I do like how diverse it is. BUT, Millwood only having a 3 Large Mouth bass limit is going to make it awefull. I have never caught a spot there. So it was easy for all the team circuit being able to boat a 5 bass limit unless fishing alone. I had to do it 3 times when fishing Trader Bills and twice when fishing the Midwest Sportsman Team trail (What ever happen to that circuit?)..Bull Shoals would be great or even fishing the lower part of the Arkansas River like Dumas area. Although Ive never fished there, I have heard lots of good stories from both. And like you Basket, I do believe it WILL hurt this division of the BFL. Its will be interesting to see how well it plays out. Especially in attendance.
Still waitin on mr bass to decide what to fish. Right now Im leaning towards the bassmaster weekend series.
I have yet to understand the BFL thing, Mr. Bass i do, but dont,,,,, and mainly just for braggin rights. But i wanna go where ive not fished before, and BWS has taken me to the Red, Rayburn, Ky Lake, Norman, etc,,,,, and ive enjoyed the crew that runs our division very much. They run a good trail, and its very competetive. I will fish BWS next year , and Sherwood Bass Club as a local gauge. Sherwood is the best bunch of fishermen ive ever fished with, or against. Lots of talent, and comraderie, and FUN !
What if Arkie got split? Maybe a North division and a South division?North would have Most of the River (Fort Smith, dardenelle and Little Rock), Greers, Beaver, Bull Shoals, Norfork. Am I missing any more??South would have Ouachita, Degray, Hamilton, Greeson, River (Pine Bluff and Dumas), Millwood, Felsenthal, maybe Dierks or Dequeen.Im only saying this because of the wide spread travel and towing. With gas and all other expenses being so high. It kinda makes sense. Im probably not right here, but hey.
Long ago Ozark split to form the Arkie and thus the Ozark reference. The newer divisions of Ozark and Arkie are doing what you requested.
