I am in the process of restoring and repowering a 98 PIII. I bought an 06 Optimax and am getting around to rigging it. The upper and lower fuel rail clamps are broken; some cracked and some broken at the bend. I am looking for an explanation of how/why these broke. I am referring to the stainless steel clamps that are bent at 90 degrees and retain the injectors. (only the top and bottom on each bank are of the bent style and all are cracked or broken.)Anyone experience this problem? Thanks.Michael
You might post this question over on BBC under the Mercury Outboard section. Don Weeds can answer it for you, and make you a great deal on the parts you need. Great guy.
I would bet they are broke from taking the cowling off amd putting it back on. I broke one on my old boat doing that. I had to take the cowling off on the water and when I put it back on it broke one of the retainers on one of the top injectors.
