Hey BCB, Update on troubleshooting advice for interior lights and security system (see first post)?

UPDATE: I tried to close all compartments and let the system reset, no luck. Then I figured I try the security system since its all wired together, and while the light comes on to say its armed, it does not alarm when a compartment is opened. So, none of the interior lights work,nor the security. Any recommendations on what I should try now? Could it be a faulty “push button” that may break the circuit somewhere?? If so would that cause them all not to work?? Everything else in the boat seems to work fine, so I dont think its anything with the main breaker. What the best way to test, volt meter, test light, and if so, if the first connection is bad ( which I think starts in the starboard rodbox) then may be none of them will get a reading???? Guys, My Eyras interior lights at times work, and other times dont. Maybe a short somewhere?? Security system works fine, at least it arms and disarms, which I think runs on that same circuit. Just wanted to know any troubleshooting tips or if anyone has had this problem before.All of the connections seem to be ok.Just weird, last week they went out, this morning, they worked, halfway through the trip, they didnt come on??????ThanksLast edited by cborne01 on November 10th, 2011, 11:15 pm, edited 1 time in total.

More than likely the connections to the lights are loose or corroded. Just clean and tighten and see if this is the quick fix. You can pinch the connectors tighter w/ a pair of needle nose pliers. It worked for me.

We are going to ask if any of the interior lights work? If not we are suspect to another issue. BCB

None or the interior lights come on when they are out. When they do work, they all work.ThanksThe first time I had this issue, I had turned off the main power switch in the back of the boat b/c I have always done this on all my boats to hopefully stop any battery drain if something were left on or for the little battery draining devices like antennas… but I wouldnt think that would affect the interior lights in any way.

The interior lights are on a timer and you may have to close all the boxes and then power up. BCB

BCB, will try it, and this may be a dumb a** question on my part, but — Should I wait and turn the main power off after the timer automatically turns them off ( the 7 minutes or so) like after charging batteries, or kill it while they are on, or does it matter?? Basically would killing the power at a certain point in the cycle disrupt the cycle I guess is what Im asking (confusing the system)Last edited by cborne01 on November 9th, 2011, 2:30 am, edited 1 time in total.
