Availability of EFI engines

Is it possible to order a 2010 Sabre with a 150 EFI engine? Are these engines not available on 2010 model BCB Sabres?

I didnt think that Mercury was making that engine anymore. But then…I tend to be out of the loop sometimes.

Yes,Well.. Maybe you can still get a 150EFI on a 2010 Sabre depends on BCB inventory of 150EFIs as Merc No longer builds them..Honestly in my opinion you would be ahead to get a Opti..Minimal cost difference considering..They have a 5 yr. warranty,MUCH better fuel economy,MUCH better resale and are just as reliable today as the EFIs.. my .02 worth….Sherm

I was told that the difference is about $3,000. This just means I have to wait that much longer to save up the difference. I guess in the long-run it will pay off for itself.

I would get the EFI, if u can, first they are bulit proof, they run strong, and $3000 is a lot of gas, re sale only means something if u plan on selling it in the near future, plus a EFI only need TCW3 oil, just reg perium merc oil, thats cheep to buy and the opti the oil is big dollers, to buy when u compare the to

It just seems like there is always something that gets in the way of pulling the trigger. First, it was child #1, then #2, then #3…finally figured that one out Then it was the truck…got it paid off. Then found out I have pay full 8.5% sales tax…got it saved up. Now, I got to save up another 3 grand to pay for an engine that our government forces on me. I could settle for something less, but I been waiting for this so long, I feel like anything less than a brand new BCB would be a huge disappointment. Im sure it will be worth the wait!!

The difference is only about $1k retail and we rejected our last order of Merc EFI engines Thursday. The ones in stock are all that is left on BCBs.

I have an 09 EFI on my Sabre and love it,thought I got one of the last ones available,guess not?I have a really good Merc Tech in my area and he said EFIs were built like a tank!

As BCB mentioned its only a $1,000. more for a Opti and that will include a 5 yr. warranty vs only a 2 yr. warranty on the EFI..The extra 3 yrs. of warranty is worth more than the $1,000. so the Opti is a better “Value” all the way around… Sherm

But cant you get the 2 yr. warranty extension on the EFI so its a 4 yr. engine? I have the EFI on mine and was told it was a stronger motor than the Opti. With the issues of ethanol in todays gas – Id rather have a motor that didnt run quite as lean and gave me a margin in case the gas had more than 10% ethanol.
