Sadly yesterday was my last outing for this year. Picture of bass below. They ran a little small this year but we still had a great time. The 5 of us kept 10, returned two, and kept the 3 blues too.Fish on. Pretty heavy tackle…..The famous light house leading to Mecca (for stripe bass fisherman). No, up here that aint called an Alabama rig….
Thats Montauk right? Man, that brings back memories. I fished of the beach. Most amaizing sight seeing acre upon acre of stripers — looked like you could walk on them.
Not your normal bass rig… Nice day on the water!
Brian,Looks like a lot of fun!!! I suspect those stripers might even pull a little harder than those Champlain smallies?!?!? Wish I could have experienced that while we were there. Are you done for the year fishing in your Cat??? Our water temps in Iowa are 46 to 48 degrees now. Have to admit a bit challenging, not my forte. Ponds are still active, need some cement ramps on our ponds for the Cat. Not long until we have ice, not much of an ice fisherman, cant seem to chop a hole big enough to put my boat in!!!! Hoping for a short winter.Great pics Brian, Bill Mac
Yeah, Im done. Too much going on the next couple weeks. Got to have a major trailer repair taken care of too. On the way home Friday the right side brake bracket snapped off and went right through the wheel! Have to replace the brake and find a wheel to use for the spare. No idea what caused the problem. Think, for some reason, the brake hung up and bracket snapped as I pulled forward. What a mess. Added a couple hours to a long ride home. Broke down in the middle of Fair Haven VT which is kind of in the middle of no where. Yes, this was Montauk (Mecca). Lot of fun and even little ones put up a good fight.
more than likely the Allen bolts holding caliper came loose. I have found mine loose. when you put it all back together use a little locktite. that is one nice mess of fish!!
Thanks. Will mention to the mechanic at BCB dealer. Sure glad we got a dealer last year! I hear they are getting a Puma for the spring boat shows. Cant wait to see it.
There may be information in the FAAq section on the caliper bolts. Also, Some do not use Red Loktite when they rebuild and you must.
So Im hearing. I missed the info on problems with bolts not staying in place in all the reading Ive done on here. Something I have diligently done in the way of research. And given the boat/trailer is only 5 years old I doubt they have been worked on before. But frankly, the information on the problem shouldnt be something one should have to look or search for. Every new owner and every owner who registered a used boat with BCB should be advised to check these bolts so they dont incur an large unnecessary expense. If I knew about the issue, I would have checked them on regular basis. Im a little annoyed that this is a known common issue that occurs and more hasnt been done to make sure folks know about it. With all due respect, I think that expecting owners to go into FAQ and input “Brakes falling off” is a bit much to expect.
I had the same brake problem. Mine did not ruin the wheel, but did break the disc. How often do you guys check the caliper to make sure its tight? Thanks for the reminder I will go check mine now!Jon
