The engine is a little high on the jack plate for this setup . We have never seen one perform well at this height. Yours would be the first. Nice Pics! BCB

Im running a 27 tempest gps 72-73 22lbs water pressure and handles well only turning 5500 rpm tried 26 tempest rpms come up but speed not much difference. Little hard to steer trimmed out what you recommend?

The engine is too high and you are loosing performance, thus the tight steering on top. The steering torque is from surfacing propeller blade, which is slippage that causes that. Thus inefficiency and you could do better in some cases.

How low do i need to go? Went down before but got alot of bow lift and chine walk

The chine walk is you learning to drive, the lift is due to hooking the propeller up which is the goal.

I dont have any problem driving one, if it is set up right u dont have to drive it , mine handles and runs great just a little steering tourque!Last edited by wish2fish71 on May 10th, 2009, 11:54 am, edited 1 time in total.

wish2fish71, Please dont take this wrong, though if you have chine walk that you can not manage, then you have some skill level yet to achieve. Whether or not you realize it, the boats can be driven, unless the engine is entirely too low, and that height would prevent your engine from trimming as it would be too low. Not just trailer, though actual trimming. The steering wheel torque should be just about 2 pounds or so with a load and all strung out.

I have plenty experience in driving them all thats not the problem,ive tried lowering and it doesnt performe as well as it does right now. Just thought you may know a simple suggestion for a little steering tourqe.

Motor is too high. Listen to what BCB is telling you. I have the same boat and motor. If its not chine walking then its not setup properly. That boat will walk when it gets up and running good. Learning how to handle the boat when it starts walking is what BCB is talking about. I used to run a 27 Tempest that had been balanced and blue printed and could see 75+ and yes the boat will walk with me ususally when I get around 70. I also have no steering torque when I am running WOT.
