Livewell capacity

The P4 livewell is only separated by a vented divider isnt it ? So i dont think you will help balance the boat that way,,,,,the saddle tanks also equalize, so that wont work either ! So do like i do, Go fishin ! I am also as Rick would say a “heavier” angler ! Good luck, D.

D-man: I believe that both livewells are on my left toward the center of the boat, at 6 pounds per gallon, that is a balancing weight that might work to my advantage when I am just running around seeing if there is any fish out there that can catch me. Dont have saddle tanks.jwt

The livewell will hold enough water to slow you down a mph or 2. Why do you think you need to balance the boat?

Water is 7.8 pounds per gallon and you wont notice the benefit much. Trim adjusts bow steer angle more reliably. BCB

I was just looking for ideas; when I am alone the boat lists a bunch to starbord when at rest. I have been told that an unbalanced boat will be harder to control as I near the step at high speeds; is this not the case?thanksjwt

Most all boats will lean to one side if only one person in boat at driver side. Bass Cat leans less than most of the others out there. As far as reaching top end speed…..it is my opinion that balancing will not help you reach the boats full potential. There is a learning curve in learning how to drive the boat and this is accomplished through practice. The amount of practice time can be shortened if you have someone there to teach you a little. We find they are faster with the more weight on the drivers side, Which puts a touch more prop in the water.Dont let the at rest thing bother you. A P4 is a very wide beam and it will also have less list than other brands and models, since it has more bouyancy. BCB

Thank you for the comments; if possible, I would still like to know the working capacity of the livewell. I guess too much information can cause confusion. A lot of these boards speaking to driving techniques state that boat balance is an important factor; guess I need to quit engineering the thing and get on with the rat killin. According to the tables: specific weight of water is 8.345 pounds/gal, gas is 5.87 #/gal.thanksjwt

BCB will never tell what the capacity of the wells or due to others miss stating the facts of theirs. You can search the subject here for other comments regarding this subject. They do have one of the largest if not the largest on the market.

Phil hit that one heads up. The factory will not release those capacities as others are not honest it seems. There are some articles on this site explaining that. People in other companies frequently state that they have a 50 gallon livewell and they are not felt to be anywhere near 50 gallons. No livewell BCB knows of approaches the size of a 55 gallon drum standing on the back deck full of water.

I was going to say about 20 lbs per side but then I think you meant water capacity. A tape measure and a little math could give a rough idea of he volume, or a 5 gallon bucket and a garden hose.once the water level reaches the overflows count how many buckets it took.

Where a gallon weighs roughly 8.3lbs…55 gallons of water weighs a whopping 456lbs! I wouldnt want to be dragging that much extra cargo around.The bucket method is how Id calculate it, too

Take a 5 gallon bucket dump it in the live well and fill it up till it reaches the overflow outlet and you will have you answer, I havent done this but would be willing to guess its in the 27-29 gallon range if not a little more, which yes would be in the range of 200+lbs of water….

Depending on how filled, my PII holds around 25 gallons. Length x width x fill height in inches/ 231 will give you volume in gallons
