I picked up my new Eyra last Saturday and spent Sunday breaking it in and getting a feel for the drive. The boat handles great and has a very different feel than my previos Pantera Classic. I can not say enough about the overall fit, finish and craftmanship that went into this design. Job well done by BCB. I have a 250 Pro XS and was running a 27 Fury. After about 4 hours on the engine I made a few 3-4 mile passes at WOT. The acceleration from 55 to the mid 70s is unreal. I ran 80MPH consistently and was only spinning the apparently too large 27″ Fury 5830RPMs. Top speed was 80.8MPH with 40 gallons of fuel, 2 people and tackle. The 27 will serve as my backup prop and will be a great choice for long runs as the fuel economy should be better than my 26 Fury. The boat comes out of the hole a little slower than my Classic did but it picks up speed quickly. I plan to run my 26″ next time out and will post some numbers and report on hole shot.HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!
Jman, those are awesome beginning numbers. Two people, 40 gallons of gas, motor is not loose yet and doing 81 early on. Yep, that be BA for sure. What were the air temps? If your crazy enough going solo and run in mid 40 to low 50 temps watch out. What kind of lower unit do you have? Major congrats. Thanks for sharing.
That is an amazing report with that much weight in the boat!! I am impressed.
More room to go north on the speedo with your Merc too. I wish I could help with motor height setup. You may have it already dialed in but if not BassCat will jump in quick.
sweet.. I can not wait to get mine with the 250 SHO on it.. and see how it produces..Congrats!!Mo
I have the torque master lower unit. Getting more comfortable now and running 83 consistently with th 27 fury. Top speed 83.8 with 2 folks and gear @ 5980 rpms. Just ordered a 29 tempest to play with. Mo – congrats on your new boat. I am certain u will love it. Let us know what the SHO produces.
Your real close on top end blow out potential at 83.8 MPH so be very careful if you lighten it down trying to go faster. The speeds are really good for the loaded rig. Please be satisfied with your present speeds or seek professional help before you move on. The 29 Tempest is short on hole shot and loaded may be a struggle.
Haha. “seek profesional help”……….. Probably solid advice for most of us. Thanks BCB! Awsome #s on the new boat!!
Like BCB said your pretty much at the point when you need to call Titus Grisham and get your torquemaster modded. You do not want to experience ce “blow out” unless you know what to feel for and what that Hull will do. Id call Hydromotive if you want to spend prop money, or call Mark Croxston in Indiana and try HIS custom prop, faster than a Fury with more prop hitting the water. If you simply Mod a existing prop call DAH in Burlington with, they work with mercury and evilrude on their factory props, and are known world wide. Go to Screamandfly.com to view tituss work, a modded torquemaster is sometimes faster than a sportmaster. I wonder what the higher gear ratio would do in that Bad Boy? You definitely have a strong 250 pro, or better driving skills!!!!!! Brannon cell anytime 847 450 4011
Thanks for the advice and heads up. I certainly do not want to reach an unsafe point. BCB – you said real close to blowout. How do you determine wher the line is? Math or just a feel?
