I have a Motorguide on my 06 Sabre now, are the holes the same if I want to change to a Minnkota? Thanks, Sal
i am not 100% sure but i think the holes are different. i had an mg on one of my boats and changed to a mk. the mk covered the old holes but this was on a 94 pantera. if motorguide has changed since 94 the patterns may be different on the new ones. sonny
It may and you may be able to redrill the bracket also, to match.
My experience is they will line up but you have to get the right combination as the MK Maxxum troller has 2 sets of holes. I have yet to mount or pay attention to the Fortrex so I am not referring to that engine at all. Good luck! Judd Lasiter
why do you want to change? i also have 06 sabre but it came with 70lb MK at first i didnt like it because i have always owned MG but now i love it and wouldnt have another
He is changing from a MG to a MK.
The MG is a sore subject with me. I lost more tournaments because of this trolling motor since I owned my boat. The first week I had the boat the trolling motor broke. The cable snapped in the head and MG fixed it for free, but I had to take it to an authorized dealer that was 80 miles away and I had to wait for 6 weeks to get it back. Then the next fishing season started and it broke again. I had 2 tourneys with in 2 weeks of each other and my friend put an extra screw on the bottom of the cable in the foot control so the cable wouldnt snap out and then I could use it for the next tourney. I would not have gotten the motor back in time if I brought it to the store to fix it. Durning the tourneys the motor broke again. It just would not let my control where I wanted to go. Then it wouldnt work at all. I had to drive to a spot and anchor. I had 3 fish by 9:00 AM and then the motor broke. Fishing with the anchor for the rest of the day, I did not catch any more fish, and lost. Then I brought to Bass Pro to fix it, and they said because I made adjustments to it they would not cover it under warranty. So I had to pay $50.00 to get the case fixed where the arm moves back and forth. I got it back and fished with it 1 time and it broke again. I am sooooooo pissed off I have my Tourney of Champions coming up in 2 or 3 weeks and I have to spend $1,000 on a new trolling motor. MG should have giving me a new one. This motor is obviuosly defective. The bad part is everybody knows I just bought the boat in 07, and cant believe this MG keeps braking. I will never buy MG ever ever agian. They should not even make this model and Basscat should not let them put it on their boats. When I brake down because of MG everybody sees a Basscat boat broke, not MG. Theres more but my blood pressure just shot up because of this and I have to spend $1,000 for a new trolling motor, thats BS I bought the boat in 07.
Sorry to hear about that…MG should have made it right, unfortunately, not everyone is forward thinking about customer service as BC. Over the years MG has been a good motor to me. However, when I bought my new to me 96 Eyra, I replaced a 36v 100+lb thrust MG in good working order to go to MK. At this point I simply prefer MK, to me it is a better tm at present. Not everyone will or should agree. I have used both brands and have had only minor issues thus far with either one. Judd is right, an MK Maxxum should fit, just have to get which bolt pattern to use.Good luck!96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

I changed from a 1999 Motor Guide to a Minn Kota Maxxum several years ago, and I didnt have to drill any new holes in the boat.
