Water in livewells

I recentley replaced my livewell control valve so i wouldnt have excess weight from water being in the live wells. Even After i replaced the valve the livewells are still filling up about 1/4 full while the boat is just sitting on the water. I tested the valve by filling my livewells(with the water hose) and closing the valve and there were no leaks but when i put the boat in the water today it filled up about 1/4 full can anybody tell me why that is or what the problem might be????????

Why are you worried about a little water in the livewell? When you put the boat in reverse water is being force through the overflow, through the valve, or your pumps could be allowing the backflow. Leave the valve open and all the water will drain out as long as the boat is on pad.

Please just make sure it is not leaking from sitting static, and that you have the valve set right. It should not flow in while sitting. It should drain out running, then when you have it on fill/auto, it should stay full running, and not drain out on the trailer. BCB
