I have a 2013 pantera II w/200 proxs that I bought used in April of this year and it seems that every time I use it I am having to fix something or get it fixed. The new deal is sending off the charger and cleaning all the electrical connectors and replacing the ones that are to corroded . I have owned 10 boats in the past ten years. And had three at one time. none have given me the little problems this one has. Now dont get me wrong Basscat has been great and taken care of me. I also know that I bought a pro staff boat with high hours and a lot of use on it. I will never buy a pro staff boat again. I guess Im just really regretting this purchase. And nervous about fishing my first year in the BFL out of a boat I paid 35k for. Hopefully I will get it all straightened out.
I too bought a pro staff boat that belonged to an elite series pro. While it had a lot of use and hours on it, it is in extremely good condition. I new from the start that i would need to fix a few things. Jackplate gage, a few loose rivets, deck lights. The price was good and doing some work on it lets me get familiar with everything on the boat. Im sure some things will break and need replacing, and so far bcb will go the extra mile to answer questions or help with a problem. I have owned other pro staff boats and new boats also and have learned that maintenance and repairs are just a fact of life. Staying on top of maintenance, checking electrical cables, trolling motor cables, carrying spare pumps will head off a lot of problems. Enjoy the boat. Life is too short to worry about breaking down.
Toadrustler, Lets see if we can help. There is not much we can do and we dont know the details of your rig, though we are willing to help cut through the muck, so to speak. Its the Holidays and things are crazy, plus we are very busy, though we will be glad to start a conversation on how we can assist. Give Service at call and let them know we reached out to you! BCB
Richard at service has been very helpful. As of right now the charger is getting sent to noco tomorrow I dont think its been charging the batteries fully since Ive had the boat. And other than getting some more ring terminals and a small length of 10 gauge wire I think it might be getting enough power to the hummingbirds for them to work right. I really dont like how water stays in the bottom of the boat I think this has a lot to do with the electrical issues the boat is having now. From my understanding the newer boats use a tin wire instead of copper and the trolling motor connections are soldered and heat shrinked. I think I might take the time to soldier and heat shrink all of the connections in the bilge.
How can the water in the bottom of the boat be electrical?
I think he means the moisture from the standing water “MAY” be an issue w/ some of the electrical corrosion and such. just my guess
I think the water is causing corrosion on the unprotected electrical connections.
Oh. Gotcha.
If your worried about the water in the bilge causing the corrosion just tear you a piece of tshirt and stick it through drain plug to where one end is in water and the other end hangs out the outside of drain plug when you get home from the lake. The water will be gone in no time. You can also just use shop vac and suck the water out. You also should leave the compartment open or at least cracked while charging batteries.
I to bought a 2013 earlier this yr. I have had one issue with electrical on the back junction block on the back of the boat. I went ahead and pulled the trolling batterys and removed each connector one at a time and put soldier on the ring connectors. Though it was a little bit if a chore but hopefully the payoff will be big. I purchased a good quality propane soldier gun several yrs back. Made the job go easily.. though mine was fairly low hours (less than 80hours) . I think after a couple yrs all have a tendency to need a little tlc. Richard also has been great about assisting me with any question. My bilge was staying wet also when on the water come to find out one of my aerators housing ws cracked. Im guessing the pro staffers boats are used and not a hole lot of up keep. Other than a few little niches I love my 2nd cat. Be patient Im sure BCB and the member of this board will assist you anyway they can.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
