The last I heard was about a week ago. The water was high and in the trees. Most folks were throwing jigs to the bases of gumtrees or they were throwing spinnerbaits…..super-shallow. When the water is up like it is now, alot of folks go (or at least cast) way back into the flooded standing trees. The jig bite was a pitching bite, but the spinnerbait bite was long casts…..both to the bases of gumtrees. I have fished Buggs for years. When the water is this high, there are several other good methods of fishing these flooded trees. I would highly recommend a lunker lure buzz-bait, a horney toad, and a hollow-belly swim bait. All three thrown as far back into these flooded areas as possible. Good luck!!
