Wet transom? Pantera III

So I removed and old LSS-1 transducer from my 2002 Pantera III. It was located just to the right of the JP on the starboard side under the transom. When I removed the screws I had a few drops of water come out and it would drip every now and then so I shot some air from a Computer duster and I would get some bubbles then a few drops. The past 2 days I have put a shop vac on the holes to try and suck out any more water/moisture as of today Im not getting anymore drips but if I put a q-tip stick in there for a bit it feels moist. So my question is if I seal up the holes and no more water gets in am I still going to have my transom rot out? Is the 2002 P3 made to have any open areas that can have water sit in and then freeze and crack? Is there any wood in my transom? Thanks for the help.

Are you the original owner? If there isnt a sticker on the back indicating “all fiberglass construction” then it probably was made using the old school method…which may use wood. Probably not something you want to hear but I would use a small heat lamp tilted up toward the holes….and dry dock for at least a week( I would do 2 minimum). No Im not the original owner, where would the sticker be and is it just a normal sticker that could have came off over the years ?

A 2002 is an all fiberglass hull product and will not rot, though it can absorb moisture into the foam chamber.

So would sealing it and not letting anymore moisture in be the was to go?

That would be the easiest option. The decal wouldve been on the top cap of the transom area. Again, I would keep it out for a couple of weeks to let it dry out as much as possible if it were me.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

This thing was right in my face and didnt even notice. Im not 100% sure what it means but it makes me happy to see it. Glad you found the sticker lol! No wood. Seal it up. Not sure you can do anything about a warranty transfer if you havent already. But you got a boat that wont rot..96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

Not only will it not rot, it wont absorb moisture into the transom and stringers like the urethane products will. While they dont rot they do soften from moisture permeation. The foam flotation will absorb moisture and that is the source of drainage most likely. It is teemed a closed cell foam, though it still allows moisture absorption. Which is why all mounting holes should be well sealed and never left open. BCB
