2004 Mercury Optimax 225…..I have been using QuickSilver Premium Plus 2 Cycle Motor Oil since I bought my boat. I could always get it at Wal-Mart. Recently the only Premium Plus that they have also says “Blended Synthetic” instead of “Motor Oil”. Have they changed over to synthetic? I have heard once you switch over to synthetic you cant go back. I know that Academy still sells the premium plus

Its the same oil youve been using. Different jug/label maybe, but its fine.

Thanks. I feel better now. I have looked at multiple Wal-Marts (Many, Natchitoches, Shreveport) and Academy in Shreveport. Premium plus is a synthetic blend, hence “plus”…96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

It makes sense but it just doesnt say “synthetic” on the old bottles. When I first got my boat, the mechanic said not to mix oils.
