Out of necessity, I need to mount a larger model depth finder to the side rail since my Pantera doesnt have adequate space on the dash. After attaching the ram rail mount, I notice the handrail will roll pretty easily. How do I stop the rolling rail? Thanks.

If you are using the proper RAM unit there should have been a self-tapping screw that secures the unit to the railing, this will prevent it from rotating. On my unit it had a piece of rubber that went between the Ram unit and the railing, after this was in place you would use the self-tapping screw to secure the lower half of the base to the railing.

Its not the Ram mount thats slipping, its the rail itself. How would I stop the rail from rotating?

What model and year is your Pantera? All of the current/recent models have a “T” in the middle of the bar that is riveted down, wont turn.

Never experienced that type of problem, as previously mentioned mine had a T-support as well that kept the railing from rotatiing.

Mine is an 04. No “T” in the middle of my rails. Guess Ill check for this piece to add.

Where the rail goes through the rail support drill a small hole through both the support and rail and put a small stainless steel screw in. The rail cant rotate when anchored to the rail support.Last edited by tiny on November 27th, 2007, 4:18 am, edited 1 time in total.

This is obviously the L Series of the Pantera Classic Economy that has only a rail. These were in the Earlier 2000 models and not mid to later. The rail has no stanchion and to prevent the roll, you can top drill the rail and tubing, inserting a screw, or you can add a low profile marine stanchion to the rail. BCB
