Question about battery compartment lid on PII

I have an 08 PII and was wondering if there way anyway to make the lid removable? The way the lid is angled makes it hard to work in the compartment and that is probably my only complaint about the boat. If it was removable you could get a better angle for working on the batteries and pumps in the compartment. I guess that is the advantage to having the bigger boat where the livewell lids dont end right next to the battery compartment. You can put the removable lid hinges on those lids easily. The real reason BCB did not is that among the newer customer base which purchases a Sabre FTD and Pantera II model they always tend to feel the hinges will be in the way. The hinges are not in the way, though that is the take on that customer base. The only detractant from the hinges is the heat they absorb if a spouse or youngster uses the back deck to sun as they will get very hot in the sunshine. You can add the removable style hinges simply and they work well.BCB

Where would you install the hinges? Looks like they would have to mount on the live well lids (not). I have thought about the same thing on my 08 Classic. Even considered removing the hinge and adding another lock to make the lid removable all the time. Thanks, Bruce

I am definitely interested on adding them to the boat but how would they mount? Like above the only way I could see doing it would be having the hinges mount on the livewell lids?

We will verify, the poster probably did not realize the mounting on the deck assembly of those lids. Answer to follow as we need to look at something. BCB

Seems as it would require re-hinging on one side or other and lock placement moved to opposing side, from memory this is all i can see to do with it. The best angle to work in the compartment is from beside the engine standing on a milk crate ! Good luck.

I spoke to Simon in parts couple weeks about this issue. We see no way to do this on a Sabre as there is no deck area to attach the hinge only in live well lid. I also considered adding a new lock on the short side of lid and re-hinge on opposing side of new lock. Still looking at but not sure how to proceed. I agree hard for short, fat, old worn out boy to get in battery hatch. Mackey
