I took some pictures of the Eyra today at the Classic expo…heres a link.(Im too lazy to post them again. )http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zerothre … lup-beware
One question I have is….will there be a dual console version? With the glove box on the passenger side positioned as it is, it seems it would either not be functional with a second console or would be excluded on a dual console model.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
The way Sherm explained it to me is that area is optional as a glove box or no glove box. No mention was made of a dual console and I didnt think to ask…duh. I should have. I would imagine if you could get a dual console then there would be a regular glove box in it. Sherm also said what you see in those pictures is likely not to be the same in the final design that goes into production. Any changes would be very minor ones though, maybe more latches on lids, shape of lids, etc. Another thing that Rick mentioned, which I thought was pretty cool, is that the console is designed so you can get the small windshield thats pictured or you could also get the more traditional windshield.
Thanks. You are thinking along the same lines as me in that the box would be excluded on a dual console model and a standard glove box would be in the second console. It may be a blessing in disguise that I was not able to purchase a boat this past year. Got me and a lot of others thinking mighty hard about the possibility here.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Maybe with a second console the glove box could be a secret compartment with locking lid.I hope the production line will have a handy place to put plyers, clippers, sissors and spray bottle for jigs (cup holder) like that accessible…kind of like the puma has.
Bill,Does the Eyra have a telescoping light like the Jag? It looked like it one of the pictures from Basscat.. Also, is your opinion that the deck is not any wider then the Cougar? Did I understand you assessment correctly? I wont get down to Basscats booth today until 2pm. Ill be out at Lay Lake test driving a SHO. Great pics of the Eyra. I bet the new VmaxSHO looks like a beast on that boat too. Ron, go break bank and get you one son. I have a feeling youll have one just in time for the OI.
The front deck appears to be a little smaller than the Cougar/Puma FTD. However it seems to have just as much if not more storage. The telescoping light is an option. This boat can not be fully appreciated through pictures alone. The attention to detail and craftsmanship is like nothing I have ever seen. And yes Tom with that 250 SHO this boat will be a rocket. I got more pics but Bill did a nice job posting his. Thanks.
You are right on about the pictures not showing off the detail in the design of the Eyra. I tried to take pictures to show the subtle sculpture lines in the top cap and the hull, but you have to see it in person and touch it. Every trim stripe is somewhat concave…a very nice touch. Rick described it to me very well, he said its like getting a painting for your living room. You know its there and you appreciate the looks of it, from a distance, its just a painting. And I do think the storage is pretty much the same in the front deck, you access it somewhat differently but there is definitely no worry about not having enough room for your “stuff.” The SHO is huge!!
Great pics bill I cant wait to see it sun. Ill drive up tonite when I get off work.Last edited by BASSCATLILDAVE on February 20th, 2010, 2:05 pm, edited 1 time in total.
BC had said earlier when they first brought up the info on the Eyra that it would not have the same wide decks as the Cougar/Puma models. It is a slightly smaller and lighter 20 foot, to accomodate 200-250 hp range. The original Eyra did not have a dual console option due to size restrictions. Im betting that the glove box is moved to a passenger console like the other duals in the lineup if someone wants dual console. The side vents you can see the “fish” symbol in the fiberglass work. Looks like it has the black BC tool holder. I have a “day use”box on mine that holds two scent bottles built in.
