I have owned 2 pumas. Really like them. However, for economic reasons im considering a smaller rig. I gotta have a dual console! The p4 is priced pretty close to the pumas with all things being equal. I fished out of a 19 foot boat for many years and am considering going back to one. Also factoring in the cost of operation. Would a p2 be to cramped for a dual? Just not sure which way im gonna go, im not in a big hurry right now so just gonna keep looking around. However, i might just pick up another PUMA…as you can see i just dont know what i will do at this point.
The Pantera II is an enjoyable boat to fish out of, and you can do fine in a Dual Console there. Though it is hard to beat the Puma or other 20 models for comfort.
I fish interchangeably out of a either my 20 Cougar or my 16 Waco. I really enjoy both of them in their own way. A boat is like a motorcylce. You have to enjoy it for what it is.–Bob La Londe Forums, Free Lures, Product Reviewswww.YumaBassMan.com CNC Molds N Stuffwww.CNCMOLDS.com
time can be limited sometimes..i will probably fish 30 to 35 times a year with 15 of those being turnys..i probably can get away with going back to a 19 footer and keep some cash in the bank..decisions decisions!
Once my Baycat sells…Im going to consider a P4, but if you look at the cost of one, compared to a Cougar Advantage Elite, similarly equipped, you would probably be just as well off to get the Cougar. Ive fished out of a P2, they are great fishing platforms too. Probably that rig is the one that makes the most sense, if one is trying to save some money over a new Cougar or new Puma. At least it appears that way to me.
I went from a Puma to a P2. Really like the P2. Fun to drive and plenty fast. The step up cooler is big and the storage is more than you see on most other 19 boats. I dont think you would be disappointed with it. Both of mine were single console however.
does the p2 have good leg room like the puma?? Never been in a p2
Ive had several customers come out of 20 – 21 brand “R” and “T” boats to buy 18-19 Bass Cats from me. Ive had no complaints. Everyone seems to be happy with the ride and fishability of the Bass Cat products. The PIV fishes like a 19 but handles a little like a 20 boat when the engine is cranked. Its not the comfort of the 20 models but I ran the PIV for a couple of years and absolutely loved it! The PII would probably have better resale then the PIV, so you may want to consider that as well. I have ran 92 PII, 99 PIII, 06 Cougar FTD/250, now back to 08 PIV, it is really personal preferance there is obviosly pros and cons, by far to me the best 19 class boat is the PIV how ever it comes with a price tag, I stepped up to the cougar because I wanted to go fast and boy did I that boat would fly, but to me it rode very similar to the (classic and the PII) meaning it has a tremendous amount of lift, and at top speed you really had to drive the boat in the rougher water, buut if you knew how to walk the boat on its pad from wake to wake there was nothing in site that could keep up with you, ya the calm water the gamblers and bullets are as fast and faster, but you will walk away from them in 2 to 3 or more waves if you know how to drive it, I have always been in a 19 boat and feel very comfortable there the PIV is a flatter ride with the 200 similar to the 20ers now, and still will pass most 225s on other brands. More storage than you need and all the bells and whistles you want. Ultimatly it is what do you want, save money go with the classic or PII, if you want the ride go with the PIV or the 20, To me I wanted the cheapest puma ride and storage, which is the PIV sure they are about the same as the agvantage elite but I like the front deck and wider space between the console and wanted the options of the Puma but couldnt afford so decided to stay with the PIV. I know the ride from my 06 FTD (which is a differant hull now) compared to this 08 PIV is very similar, I feel like I can handle the big water just as good in my PIV as I could in the FTD.
thanks guys! TOUGH CHOICE
