Relocating Butt Seat

I have a 07 Sabre. Nice boat but with one “opportunity” The butt seat is 16″ from trolling motor foot pedal. There is very liitle space to move safely. I am standing precariously on the front and have difficulty lowering and raising the trolling motor. I am considering relocating the seat/pole back a few inches to allow more space for comfort and safety. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.I should have purchased a Pantera and still may do so.

Designed that way on purpose. Once you get used to it you wouldnt have it any other way I promise. Go fishing and give it some time.

got an 02 sabre, and my 250lbs has trouble moving around the butt seat. have actually “peter panned” off the front a few times. was going to add a second pole mount, but its a project. basscats installation is second to none, and the pole goes all the way down to the base of the hull for strength. adding another, you would need to do the same thing.now, that said, the existing hole is perfect if you use the seat, and fish sitting down. if im not going to be sitting, i now just fish with no pole up front, and free stand. much easier to get around like that.good luck.

Ive been over the side 3 times this year alone. Would love a second pin placement a little back. I dont sit but would like something to lean on or grab when I need to. It would also make it easier to pick up rods and trolling motor. The only time its an issue for me is when I swing the boat around (too fast) and bump something. When that happens the first thing you hit or grab is water….theres no where else to go. As I get older its either a bigger boat, different pin placement or loose 20 lbs. The first 2 are much easier.

I think I am going to try one of the offset poles and add a shortened piece of a straight pole for the right height and give that a shot. I gotta do something.

I had a 2008 Sabre, but Im tall – 6″5. I got used to the set-up and always raised the troller before getting all the way to the front. My dad has one of the setback style poles that gives you 3 or 4 extra inches and that seems to work great. Might give that a try.John

Im a short guy at about 5 8″, I wish it was a little closer. If my butt is on the seat, my short leg barley reaches the pedal. One more thing I like about the Eyra is the moveable pedal.I mostly stand but I could use a pole that gets me a little closer…

Thanks for the input to all parties.I have ordered a “sit” seat and pole to replace the butt seat/pole.I like the idea of a set back type pole to give some extra roomNow I will have to order one of those!.I should have known better as I am 63″ 250 lbs. My Bass Hawk was safer and in great shape and I jumped to quick in purchasing this Sabre. But I always said when I bought another boat it would be a Bass Cat

I, myself never have my butt planted to the butt seat when raising or lowering the TM. Not sure why you would want to do that?

What model Sabre is it and what motor? FTD? How much you want for it? Post some pics.
