i have slack in my steering. how do i tighten it. I finally can let my boat eat all it wants but the steering slack has me worried because of when i may need to do some manuvering in a hurry. Thank you all in advance.

cable steering and also the steering wheel is loose, a wobble up and down

Slip the boot back, jsut roll it back, on the tilt mechanism. You will see the knuckle bolts there that need tightening. The shafts are not the concern usually, it is the knuckle itself. BCB

BCB this board is the reason that i will be upgrading to a cougar next year thank you as always for your continuous support for your customers, and i will not bother you guys again until the sixth, have a great vacation.

Just for the record, this issue is not a BCB issue. Ive seen it in several different boats that have a tilt helm. And I have seen it in more than one car steering mechanism as well. Only thing is cars are a lot harder to fix. No rubber boot to pull back for access… I went to solid mounts on my motor due to the speeds I see. And I eventually gave up on the tilt helm. The vibration backs things out, whether you locktite them or not it seems.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
