hey guys. Im having a pole barn build for my 04 classic. I was wondering what size overhead door should I get. 10×10 or 16×10. I think 10 foot wide would work. What would you do?Thanks Bob N.Y

Personally, Id go with a 12 wide door, much easier in the dark to back in, and 10 height is more than adequate. Good luck, D.

I have an 18 X 8 on my garage, lots of room to back up

bigger is better in this situation. i would try to get a 12 foot wide one

10 high is gross overkill. You could back in a bay cat, with someone sitting on top of the console. Most garage doors are 7 high and I have never come close to touching anything on the boat…2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

oldtimer57 size of pole barm is 24wide x32 long x 12 height. I have other ideas for it has well thats why height is tall. Also wife say go big ….Gotta like that… Bob

Many tractors require over 7 doors and 8 to get hte roll cages in there OT57! If its a pole barn, make it big enough to be a barn door. BCB

Bob, It sounds like you are building what I did in KY. I used the aluminum with insulation under it. Concrete floor with freeze proof water faucet and a floor drain, 50 amp service. I put 10X10 doors in with a walk in door BUT the “barn” was a pull through so I never had to back in. I had a 24 foot wide X 29 deep attached garage with an 18 wide door that was 8 high. Good Lord I miss all that storage Now I live in a neighborhood with an “oversized” garage. Oversized my big ole butt! Yes it has an 18 wide door, but backing up the hill I have to drop the motor or indeed with the breakover I will take the top of the motor off with the 7 high door. On a positive note this is the main reason I started looking for a shorter boat and ended up with my Sabre FTD If I were to build another barn like you are I would do it the same way I did before, LOVED IT!!! If I had to back in I would indeed oversize the doors.

I have to give you my .02 worth on this for what thats worth… Build as big a building as you can with as big a door (s) in it as you can. You never know what you might want to be able put in it someday. I have found they can get small real quick. My latest built last fall is 60×150 x15 and it too has become smaller than Id like already…….Sherm
