Just got a 08 cougar adv has 100hours on a 250 pro xs. It has a 26 pitch temp on it. The jackplate is set at 3 inches below pad. With the fuel tanks about 3/4 full and 2 men in the boat I am only running about 70 before it starts to chine. Im sure some of that is my lack of experiance. My hole shot is good dont think I can go any higher on the plate. prop is slipping a little when it breaks over. My tack says Im at 6300 when running 70 but Ive never hit the rev limiter. Just wandering if these numbers look right or if I need to change prop or something eles on the the setup. Just seemed a little slow according to some # Ive seen posted on here. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would have your tach checked. Your RPM sounds very high for your speed (GPS). The rest of the set up sounds OK. as far as chine walk that will take seat time. You can learn faster by finding someone used to a chine walking boat and teach you to drive it. In the end you should be with that load in the mid to upper 70s. If the rpms are correct you would be running about 80 mph. That is a possible outcome for that rig.Irv

The 250 Pro XS has a limiter lower than your tach is showing. We know your not turning that many RPMs. There are a lot of posts on how to drive your boat, not driving through chine walk and the method to bump the trim up on this site. There are more than we could even begin to filter one down. Run a search and check the FAQ section out also. Engine does sound like it might be a fudge high also. Hope you get it all dialed in. BCB
