Need more info on your rig. RPM @ WOT, jackplate? How many inches below the pad are you running now, sluggish out of hole, but right off the top sounds like too much wheel for your rig. I have a 94PII with a 200EFI merc that ran 70.5 yesterday with a 25p solas loaner. I have just bought a new 25 tempest plus but havent got it yet.Andy
27 IS A HUGE PROP FOR A 200. MY 97 PII/200 EFI RUNS 74.2 WITH A 26 TROPHY PLUS AT 6000-6100RPMS WATER PRESSURE 13 PSI AND HYDRAULIC JACKPLATE(R&R SLIDEMASTER) OFF OF AN 03 COUGAR FTD.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
I have a 92 pantera II with a 200 johnson with a 4 blade shooter 13 1/4 x 27 prop and it runs @ 62 mph gps and I would like it to run closer 70 any help would be appriciated thanks jim
Seems pretty respectable to me with a full tourney load . — Increasing pitch will usually drop your top end rpm , and cost you some holeshot . — Props are finicky , as no 2 are alike , even if they say they are on the box . — Me thinks some tweaking may be in order here , if you desire a bit more . — Find a good prop guy and tell him what you want to accomplish . — Cheaper than a new prop by a longshot . — The part that always pisses me off about props , is when you get one EXACTLY the way you want it , invariably something happens to it , and you can NEVER duplicate it . — You might get real close , but never the same . — Hoss
That is very respectable. I have the same set up and see 67-68 on a good day.
GRR884 is that fastest youve ever had it or the fastest you are willing to go? Im debating on just puttin in hydraulic jack plate so I can adjust the motor height on the run in smooth water to gain more speed without blowin rooster tail.

That is the fastest with the pedal to the metal. Took a while to learn how to handle but now I have a no chine. I have a manual plate and been all over with it. I just got one of them Mercs made on a Monday morning.
I like the 26 Fury on the PII with the Optimax. Hole shot is very good. Top speed recorded is 74.8. Running 2 people tops out at 71-73 consistently in the AL heat. Performance has dropped a tad after putting a Sears PM 31 and new trolling motor batteries in over the summer along with the R&R trays. It will get into the rev limiter on cool mornings. Based on your numbers/performance, it sounds like you are dialed in.For what its worth, we have tried the tempest plus 25 and 26, trophy, fury 25 and 26. I can not say any of the props are bad props. We just say a little better performance with the 26 Fury.Best Hole Shot: 25 Tempest plusEasiest to Drive at WOT: 26 Trophy PlusBest overall: 26 fury; the 25 would get into the rev limiter during the hot summer pretty easy.
GRR884 what rpm out you running at your top speed?
i had a p2 with a 26 fury tuned by Ronnie Gilbert 200proxs…..top speed 76.2mph light. 73-74 loaded with me and gear. Woulda loved to have had a hydro jp to tweak topend. They def a fun boat to run!!

Hagler used to consistently get 75 out of his PII turning a 26 Fury. Hit 76.2 once. Wish he was on here to comment.
