2002 Pantera III, 200 OptimaxIve also had a difficult time holding prime ever since I had my old fuel line and primer bulb replaced with the new ethanol resistant fuel line and bulb purchased from Bass Cat. Replaced fuel line from tank selector switch to engine, primer bulb provided was BRP brand. Cannot discover any leakage, all connections appear tight. It has been suggested that the problem is my primer bulb is mounted with the fuel flow arrow pointed down therefore gravity is preventing the bulbs check valve from working properly. What I dont understand is why I never had this problem prior to installing the new primer bulb. The tank selector switch is mounted in the splash well and the primer bulb hangs (more or less vertically) from the switch by a short 8″ section of fuel line into the bilge area (just like the original factory installation). The only way to prevent the fuel flow arrow from pointing down is to mount the primer bulb in the reverse direction of fuel flow or reconfigure the fuel line installation.Could it be that the check valves in the new primer bulbs are designed differently than the old ones? Can a primer bulb be mounted with its fuel flow arrow pointing away from the direction of fuel flow?
