Is 500 lbs. of Verado too much for an 06 Sabre DC? May be able to trade up for a good price.

Has anybody gone this route yet? If I do end up ordering a new Sabre FTD it would be nice to know if the Verado is a option. The Verados are extremely popular with us walleye guys and they are truly awesome engines. Once you have used the digital throttle and steering it is hard to go back.

The 175 Pro XS weighs in at 431 lbs which is the same all the way down to the 135. I would guess that you can fool around with the weight distribution in your load to help compensate. Just think of it as hanging your 10 year old behind you on skis. Might be slow out of the hole, but you could move up to a High 5 if that was an issue and top end wasnt your biggest concern. I bet Rich would tell you that Verados fuel consumption and run all day ability would outweigh the top end with the walleye guys.

Remember that the Sabre is only rated for a 115hp 4 stroke. EFI or Opti, 2-stroke is the way to go. John

A 115 that weighs 20% more than the Opti/EFI version is going to be slooooooow. sabreski is right.

I dont know about a Sabre with a Verado but I have a Puma with a Verado and love it , beleive me when I say it isnt the slow sled that you may think it is ! Hole shot is better than it was on my Jaguar , mid range punch will put you back in the seat , and top end isnt very shabby either , love mine and would buy another one !!

That is a good combination there Puma/275. Though a smaller four cylinder Verado on a Sabre we do not suggest. Pantera Classic, Pantera II or a P4 model, they are fine with the 150 to 200 Verados. BCB
