To BCB Family. After having the forum discussion about Australian dealers it got me itchy for a new ride if anyone has made the change from a Piv to a Eyra i would appreciate any feedback i can get remembering i bought the Piv blind and love it and expect the same with the Eyra.Thanking in advance Simmo.
I have never owned a PIV but I heard great things about it. I have though owned an Eyra and I have to tell you its an incredible boat. Super fast with great control, very little driver input oh and it looked great to boot. All the posts that Ive read leave me to believe that the Eyra is a little bigger and faster but is still as nimble and fun to drive.
The Eyra seats completely different and you may not like that depending on how tall you are. I have owned a PII, Puma FTD and been in a PIV and sat in an Eyra. I very much disliked the seating in the Eyra and that was enough to steer me to the Puma Ftd which has a HUGE cockpit area. I felt like I was sitting in a go-kart while in the Eyra. I am 511 200lbs.
Im pretty sure Flyswatter went from a PIV to an Eyra… maybe check out some of his old posts, hes got a lot of performance info. Hes in a sabre now.
Here is more info about the Eyra http://www.fishwithmojo.com/bceyra.html

If money is not deciding factor Id get the Eyra in a heart beat. I had a 200SHO on both the PIV and Eyra. The Eyras hull repsonded much better on the 200SHO vs the PIV. Not even close. THAT IS NOT SAYING ANYTHING NEGATIVE TOWARD THE PIV!!! I know you probably will not get a 200 but wanted to share that info so you can see a true side by side comparison between the hulls. I eventually re-powered to a 250SHO on my Eyra and OMG what a thrill. If I had that boat in 45° air temps and 29 pitch prop its scary to think how fast Id go. I got the Eyra up to 75 mph with a early model hot 200SHO on the GPS (at least thats what some would want to say). Might be true and might be false all I know I was running like my pants were on fire. So I didnt care and hang on, pedal to the metal. Those GPS speeds are well documented and 82 in the southern heat in September with a 26p Fury which was not enough prop for winter use with a 250SHO. I just didnt get to the cold season to find out. I suspect Etec and Mercs would be close or right there too. So going forward lets not get centric to the motor. It only digress to chevy and ford with cheerleaders. Hell, go ahead I dont care. A motor is a motor. Dealer trumps motor branding. Scott Brech you got me at that southern friendly hello. Some say Im loyal to Yamaha. Not! Im loyal to my dealer. Nuff Said…. Back to the rest of the story. Hole shot was better with the Eyra then my PIV all things being equal with 200SHO. Eyras hull is way faster too. Think about that for a moment. A 20 boat faster then a 19 boat that weighed 200 plus more pounds with more glass to catch wind? Scratching my head on that one. How in the hell did you do that Rick Pierce. Gotta to share a side story about some Yamaha brass checking out my Eyra 200SHO in Mountain Home. Rumor has it, Im sure another story, they were scratching their head to see if my motor was hot, or if I illegally tweaked the computer but a certain someone said hmm… I think the Eyras hull had something to do with that speed. Poor ole SkeeterFX boats that was designed for the SHO…. Nothing better then an American building a better boat for a rice burner power plant. Whack!!! Flswatter swiping that FX off the windshiedl witht the Eyra burning water toward WOT. Says something about the hull of the Eyra doesnt it. Ride between the boats are splitting hairs IMO. To me the PIV is as good as any boat Ive been in. Reality says 20 boat is better but I could not see that much difference in the ride with PIV even compared to my Eyra or Pumas Ive been in. Dexterity sea-do thrills is Eyra all the way babbeeeee!!!!Disclaimer: If you have long legs you may feel a bit cramped with a hot foot in a Eyra compared to the PIV. You sit lower in the Eyra and so IMO get less wind in the face vs the PIV. Hell, aint no hiding the wind when you are doing 70 plus!!! So go pick your poison there. Hope this helps.Fly
You know guys all this info is priceless unless I jump in a plane to try the boat it is only your info that I can make my call, I have the only piv in Ausltralia and it will be the same with the Eyra so any info is great. Cheers Simmo.
