Topic: Mercury PRO XS Leaking fluid

I just took my 2013 Mercury PRO XS 200 into bass pro (Mercury Mechanic) to have them take care of “Service Bulletin 2013-11”. It deals with the induction reed mounting screws being improperly torqued. They took care of it and I picked it up Friday. Saturday morning I went fishing for half a day and ran hard up and down the lake. This morning when I walked by my boat I noticed green fluid on the transom saver, and on the garage floor below. I took the cowling off the engine and looked around with a flashlight and found that it was pooled at the bottom of the housing and was dripping through the various hose connections. It wasnt much, maybe a 3-4 tablespoons. I have never seen this before today. I have had the boat since May and have had it out about 15 times. Any ideas? Do they top fluids off or something at the shop as part of routine maintenance or do I have a leak somewhere? What is the fluid? Thanks for any help.

One quick check you can make is the screw top on the engine mounted oil reservoir. Normally brown in color, but just a thought. Dont know any Merc lubes rhat are green. But, if its not something obvious like a loose hose Id call them and take it back in. Its a pain, I know. Good luck.

mercury premium plus is a blue green. hose connection at oil pump .

To get to the reeds all those hoses had to be disconnected. At least one is an oil hose and was likely allowed to drain in the lower cowling. Sloppy work if you ask me. The mechanic should have wiped it out!

Thanks guys. Ill just keep an eye on it, and if it continues I will take it back in.
