Hi Basscat and their loyal owners,Just a question ….. what is going on in Australia with Basscat ? I was ready to go on purchasing a Basscat Sabre but in the last 18 months there has been two changes of dealership…..Aloha ,Pacific Marine now JSW power sports, this does not build confidence down here in Oz , since all the changes I have since bought a second hand ZX190 via a contact from our local dealer ! And I must say I love the boat and its performance , I love your boats too and was ready to go but all these changes made me think otherwise , I appreciate things are tough at the moment but you guys need to get some consistency down here to build your market share and brand awareness , Basscat has a great product and is not getting the place it deserves in our market , I apologize for the negative email but I for one was ready to go but constantly changes circumstances left me no choice but to go elsewhere , Guys you build a great boat with great back up from I read via the forum , can you give me heads up into what is going on ?…..CheersDave Harrington.Last edited by aussiedave on September 29th, 2012, 11:20 am, edited 2 times in total.
Dave, more than likely it is a dealer issue. Nothing wrong with the boats and as youve probably read, you are more likely to have engine issues or other vendor issues rather than the boat. Bass Cat looks for a quality dealer who understands their business concept, which is extremely customer/family friendly. Sometimes it doesnt work out being a cut throat market, and there may be a dealer that sells more aluminum, or recreational or doesnt carry a bass boat. May also be that the dealer is getting hidden incentives to sell more of one brand than the other. But thats just a hunch from a guy that doesnt own his own businessIm sure they will touch base with you.The important thing is, you have a boat, and you included Bass Cat in the mix. Here in the U.S. we can buy from a dealer but have the local master tech work on the engine. If the dealerships changed, I think you still go through the new dealer and they would work with Bass Cat on boat issues, since the boat has the hull warranty that it does.Saw a tournament on WFN network the other day,”Austrailian Fishing Championship.” Barra fishing…all I can say is WOW!Last edited by jignpig on September 29th, 2012, 1:02 pm, edited 1 time in total.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
As JNP stated above, theres a lot that goes into running a dealership vs. what the OEM is looking for. It doesnt necessarily mean that one or the other doesnt have their crap together. It just means that they couldnt work together for one reason or another. Confidence in a boat brand…………….? I would take the 40 years of same family owned business over anything you can come up with. Bass Cat boats is going no where and one doesnt have to worry about them going out of business or being sold out to a corporation who knows nothing about fishing anytime soon. Unfortunately you should have waited in my opinion and not let this gotten in the way of your selection of boats. By the way, there was a Margay that delivered through Houston to Australia just a week ago.
We understand Kim E. is still the proprietor of those named dealerships and we have no inconsistency. Our understanding is the Kim has rotated in many ways trying to improve his business. The Australian market is much smaller than other markets including Japan, and is similar to the European markets in aspects. We do not have a European market at this time and have not followed up on inquiries due to time constraints and time required to meet those needs. The demand is significant for market size in Europe and we have some hurdles that require more time than we have available. We sponsor tournaments in both Japan and Australia. Through these sponsorships we are assisting both Kim and Kota on their efforts. There has not been any wavering with Kim and presently they are scheduled to receive their Margay for the Championship prize package soon. Kota is headed to Japan next week and Kim is looking ready to talk about Bass Cat at the upcoming Championship.Last edited by Bass Cat Boats on September 29th, 2012, 3:28 pm, edited 1 time in total.
I have trouble understanding any problems in Australia I have dealt with Kim and purchased a piv and will never buy another hull, maybe an Eyra but contacts are not a problem. Kim has advertised every year in our tournament yearly magazine and I have personally taken his potential customers out on the water, from talking to the magazine owner, Aussie Dave was his AAA and that would have been an easy contact to talk to Basscat as he has purchased two. I find his comments bewildering. Basscats rock and I will always own one of there hulls. I know how good basscats ride in our big water and I hope for Aussiedaves next purchase he might be a bit more patient as I know the basscats ride is exceptional. All the best with your new boat and I am glad you have something you like.
We are sure our positive experience with Kim will help him make a decision on whether Bass Cat is a boat he will consider for his next purchase. Give Dave a memo or turn him over to Kim and let him know his interest. We are am sure Kim will go out of his way to help Dave with a BCB models of his choice. Thanks for the props for Kim!BCB
Basscat,SimmoI agree with you about Kim ,he has been very helpful with any questions I have had ,and thank you Craig for showing your boat to me one time at Glenbawn, I just made the comment about the change of dealerships as on the surface it looks like it is changing hands ,but it is good to hear Kim is still handling things.I apologize if anyone was offended, and further to this I will still keep saying good things about Basscat boats to my friends and anyone else I meet during my time fishing,my current boat wont last forever and I hope I can get a Basscat in my Garage one day.Dave.
phil hit that on the head. and any dealer will bash a boat to get you to put money in their pocket if they know your money will going to someone besides theirs. that just called being a salesman. 90% of boat buyers beleave in the bs of what dealers say. i no pearland marine used to sell basscat before they went out of business, and before they stoped selling basscat it was the best boat ever made i went in there about 3 months later after the relationship with basscat went south i guess, he told me he wouldnt sell a peace of +%+% boat in his shop well basscat is still here and pearland marine is not.Last edited by basscat632 on October 1st, 2012, 5:46 am, edited 1 time in total.
