Facts on the Lynx:The rod box shape has gotten some arguable criticism over the triangular shape. Sure there many, many who asked in Houston and understood the thought process. Then there are a dozen others that have never seen the boat and have reacted unintelligibly from simple pictures. Often those pictures are not ones we provided and thats fine.Every angler worth their salt has grabbed a bundle of 10, 15 or even 20 rods by the tips. They ferry them wherever and there is no way they could grab the rod butts in their wrapped around arms, yet they have them all by the simple tips. We also have watched those co-anglers and partners do the side step dance down the bank in morning with the reels bouncing off the calves of their legs. This takes those thoughts and recollection of grabbing that bundle of rods in our garage and thus we moved to make the space more efficient. We also wanted the dip net scabbard to angle in under the day box and front recess. The center rod box will hold over 20 rods, some up to 8 6″ easily, and the front holds those tips. They funnel into the area beside the pedestal mount and under the trolling motor mount. We will Facebook the images of the tooled center boxes on the Lynx sometime. Lots of thought went into this boat to maximize a center rod box design and integrate more into the function. Most will not even need the left rod box and you can store whatever you desire in there as the rear area is deep enough for those Flambeau/Plano boxes. There! That should explain at least one parton the design… More to come! BCBLast edited by Bass Cat Boats on March 29th, 2017, 5:27 am, edited 1 time in total.
I still dont undertand the explaination.
Thanks BCB. I like the center rod box concept on both the Lynx and New Classic. I like even more the bulk tackle storage on the starboard side. I use that locker now on my Old Classic for the bulk of my most used baits and it works great. Im guessing the weight of the tackle might help a little with chine walking too as the weight counters a little of the torque but I may be off base on that. With baited breath we wait to see what both new models will do on the water.

Let me see if I can break it down so its understandable. You want a pretty box that holds 10 – 7 rods, or a functional box that holds 20 rods up to 86″ in length and more?BCB went with functional. 13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
where do you sit/stand/kneel to get to those rods in the triangle box?

I like the design and innovation that went into the new boxes, from what I can see from the pictures. I really like the shapes and not so square look and if functionality is gained you got a strong sale point in my book.
Personally I like the concept. Though just as with all the bcb model. Until the lynx is fished out of we are all just speaking our thoughts. Live time will tell real results. I personally think the lynx will be a great seller. Just like each off bcb models ” the model will fit some but not others.”2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
I like the Lynx rod locker. I have a Caracal and do not believe I ever sit down to get a rod out of my centered rod locker. I think the Lynx locker with more room for reels is a great idea. I dont get hung up on all the lids needing to be the same shape or uniform, otherwise my trolling motor being crooked would drive me nuts.
where do you sit/stand/kneel to get to those rods in the triangle box? Id think you step up or kneel up to front latch and move to open position, do the same with the rear and then you can either stand on the step or floor, or there is plenty of room on starboard side storage lids to kneel and retrieve rods after opening locker because of the wide deck. There is a lot of deck room it appears on the starboard side of the center rod locker. Think wed really have to get in and play with rods/tackle to get a good feel for functionality. Hard to determine from just pictures. If BCB is looking for volunteers…… .
