Does Deans Canvas make a heavy and lightweight cover? Or all they all the same material? I saw a black one at Rockwall marine on a P4 that looked like what I wanted to order (with the concealed drawstring pully in the back, etc) Has anyone seen one of the Mercury motor covers in person that theyre selling on the Mercury dockstore site?
Mudbone, I ordered one of the Merc covers (200 opti) and will see it later tomorrow when I make it home. I have been told it is shorter then the pic you see when you order it. I will let you know.
I would like to see pics of one on a 225, or get someones opinion that owns one, please let me know. I plan on going to Rayburn withing the next few weeks and both the boat and the motor will probably need to be “rhino lined” before I go…..I get deep into the woods this time of year over there.
If youre buying an engine cover for brush at Rayburn, you can save your money. Theres only 1 foot of water on the outside bushes. Most fish have already done their thing and you would be better off fishing the grass. The lake is still greater than a foot low. Rain in E. Texas was not that significant back in Jan/Feb. Good luck fishing!
The deans covers are made of aqualon which is a water proof cover except where the stitches puncture the material. If you order from aurora canvas you can choose from aqualon or acrylic the acrylic cover is water resistant instead of water proof. This allows you to place your cover on the boat when it is wet, keeping the boat from molding since the acrylic is breathable.
I wished I would have talked to you a couple days sooner….not quite the water level I was hoping for down there, but my son and I had a good time. Are you going down anytime in the next couple weeks, if so, let me know.
