I was wondering for some ideas on a deck extension for the front, it lacks some storage compared to my old champion 186. It also has a Yamaha vmax 150 carb motor (70 hrs) with the digital gauges. Are the digital gauges reliable? How about adding a water pressure gauge? What is the max rpm and the normal water pressure for this motor? Thanks Aaron
Hi Aaron and welcome to the family. You will enjoy your Cat! You will find a host of information under the FAQ part of the forum. Make sure you are all the way in to FAQ and then you can put in a few words into the search feature and a host of info will come up. Much of it will be very specific your your boat even down to the year. You will be amazed the info you find. If you dont find it, there are plenty on here that can and will help out too. I was a new owner last year and found tons of info in FAQ.As far as extending your deck, I think the Sabre and Classic have the same insert and they can be ordered from the part/accessories at BCB above. If I recall, they are about $100. This is just a deck though, no real extra storage. That 150 yammie should push the Sabre along at a very quick pace. Have fun! Enjoy the dry ride.
digital gauges have been very reliable, except for the speedo, but that is to be expected. use your gps for that. i have installed a water pressure gauge, but never hooked the kit up from the outboard, so i cant help you there. im gonna regret my procrastination, one day in the futureim a big guy and carry a heavy load in my rig. the fastest ive ever achieved was right at 65mph with no gear. normally i can run about 52-59mph (5000 rpm) with all my gear, but thats plenty fast for me. boat has a great hole shot, jumps up on pad super quick, and handles like a go-kart on water. really fun boat to drive. have yet to get soaked, either. your sabre will keep you drier than most 19 boats (that ive had the displeasure of riding in.)deck extension is well worth the bucks. i ordered mine with the boat. i prefer it to the extension compartment, that is a permanent install. i like the flexibility of the removable deck extension, which stays in about 85 percent of the time on my boat. makes convenient storage for partner underneath, as well, but its not water proof.i ordered my rig knowing that id probably be in it for 10-20 years. with nearly a decade in the same rig now under my belt, i honestly grow to love my cat more and more each time im fortunate enough to get out on the water (which is not nearly enough). its just been a good, solid, and safe boat. and this board is just lagniappe, as we say down in cajun country! good luck, and welcome..Last edited by cajun catter on March 15th, 2011, 4:54 am, edited 1 time in total.
We believe there were two deck options for some models though on the 2000 – 2003 Sabre models we cant recall those now. Parts may know for sure.
If you want a deck extension call Zac at 870-251-1200.He will take care of you. Bass Cat doesnt carry a deck extension for an 03 Sabre. They only carry 04 and newer. Zacs email is ]I am about to have him mail me one. Note: Bass Cat Likes his work .
There were two option for a deck extension for an 03 Sabre. One was just a deck extension platform with no storage. The other was a fully enclosed fiberglass deck extension box with a lid.
Thanks for all the advice, I think I will enjoy the boat very much. What would my gauges be called and the dash (series.) Does anybody know the length, width and weight on the boat. The anode by the prop that is a fin shape it is crooked (all the way to the right setting) do I just loosen that and straighten it back up. Thanks Aaron
No leave it to the right, that is where you want it. The gauges are probably Multi Link from Yamaha. Dimensions are 18 x 92″ with a weight of around 1200 we think..Last edited by Bass Cat Boats on March 16th, 2011, 3:17 am, edited 1 time in total.
mine were installed at the factory by accident, so they offered them to me at cost rather than going back and replacing with the standard gauges. its a set of two gauges, one does tach, oil level hours and trim. The other does mph, volts, fuel level, trip and clock. ive been very pleased with them.Yamaha part numbers 6Y5-8350T-82-00 Multifunction tach, and 6Y5-83570-S5-00 multifunction speedometer. If Basscat doesnt carry them, you can find them at boats.netLast edited by cajun catter on March 16th, 2011, 2:37 am, edited 1 time in total.
