I have a Cougar FTD with a Verado 225. I recently switched props due to a problem with the 24 pitch Bravo 4 blade that came on it. I went with a 24 Fury. I was kind of in a crunch because i was wanting to fish a tourney and had to do something quick.. I ran the Fury and it seems to run at least a couple hundred more rpms than the Bravo. Is this normal? I was in the 6400 range and really wasnt fully opened up. It scared me so i never opened it up for fear of blowing up my motor. Should i go back to a 4 blade with the Verado. Ive been on Mercs website and the prop selector recommended a 24 Fury along with a trophy and tempest. Any Suggestions??ThanksJared

you may have the wrong prop, but try lowering the fury by 1/2 ” to 1″ before you give up on it. 4 blade props like to run higher than 3 blades.Steve

I believe a Bravo is the suggested prop on a Verado / Cat set up. I would go back with what you had if it ran ok. Otherwise you could use the Fury, but the 24 may be a little small for you application. You could try lowering the engine with the jack plate to reduce rpms and then check your top end speed compared to your previous set up with the Bravo.

We would lower it and there is another propeller option if you dont end up liking the Fury, which you should once you lower it.
