Hey all,Ill be making a LONG trip to pick up my new Eyra in the coming weeks. Its going to be a long, quick turn around trip. I have a tourney up here in MN soon after that, so Im hoping to drop it in a nearby lake and break it in before I head back to Minnesota, so everything will be ready to go once I get back. Ive tried to look up the manuals to determine what I should expect for break in, but you have to buy the manuals, you can look at them on line with out buying. I did find this though:”Generally, for the first two hours we recommend avoiding extended periods of idle or wide-open throttle, or holding the engine at one speed for extended periods of time. New two-stroke engines require additional oil during break-in; OptiMax engines use programming inside the computer to increase the oil mixture during the specified break-in period.”So should I expect 2 hours (clock time?) of running the motor between say 3000 and 4500, varying say every 10 minutes? Just looking for as much specifics as possible before I pick it up so I can be prepared to drop it in, break it in, and hit the road again. Im getting a 200 Pro XS in case the break in varies depending on HP.My PIV will be going to its new owner shortly after. I LOVED that boat and had it LOADED with electronics, battery charges and a 1 year old TM. Im going to be sad to see her go, but I presume once I look in the rear view at the Eyra chasing me down the road, Im wont be sad any longer. Thanks!Chuck

After reading the manuals and talking with a few mechanics and the dealers as well as the steve over at Bull Shoals boat dock, this is what i am following first thing is check the rigging of the hot foot to ensure the throttle is opening fully, and get a detailed explanation of priming the fuel system and oil pump (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT- do not just gas it up and go). If dropping in at Bull shoals which i recommend just bring it by the boat house and ask them to give you a hand checking those intital items, it takes about 20 minutes. Now- while keeping the engine trimmed down- 1st hour of operation (idle time does not count) stick with rpms between 3000-4000 rpms varying the rpm setting every 2 minutes. Next two hours of operation between 4000-5400 rpms again with minimal trim ( some trim will be required here to acheive the higher rpms) as to not extend beyond vertical. Next 2 hours After that short bust of wide open throttle for up to 5 minutes. After 5 hours total run as normal. If going with the new gauges you will see a fault message and possibly a grd/ck eng message this is considered normal during the break in process. One other thing i recommend doing and that is allowing the engine to go through a complete cool down cycle somewhere in those first two hours, its a good timje to stop and fish and play with all the other features on the boat, check everything out from lights, to livewells to pump outs to bilge pumps…u get the picture.
