Phil is dead on with this one. I only run a Puma vs the FTD models for the fuel layout. Being in Florida, I fish a lot of skinny water and the fuel layout allows for better ballasting. It can get up and on plane better and keeps the nose down easier in the rough stuff. The difference in performance is really not that much, maybe 1/2-1 mph. Ive had mine run well over 80 a few times, but generally (during practice and fun fishing) I rarely run over 45-55. Saves fuel and doesnt beat on my equipment, but its good to know Ive got it if I want it. I cant take all the credit for this thought process though, I learned from none other than K Pink. Either model is a fine choice.
