Im wondering just how serious this is….I have multiple chips in the gel coat since Ive had the boat.These are mostly located on the strakes, I think they are called….toward the middle and rear of the pad.These are all about 1/8 inch or less wide and about an inch in length.Some of these areas you can see some fiber.Just how serious is this?Ive seen horror stories of delamination and obviously dont want that.Thanks, Ben.

Ben, those should have something covering the glass. The hydraulics of water can seriously damage an open chip in some cases. Not a real common situation and usually not on small chips though larger damage, and more frequently on flat areas.

i had to repair a chip not long ago on bottom of my cougar. i purchased a gelcoat repair kit from local dealer. the kit has resin epoxy and color pigment to match gelcoat colors. was fairly simple just follow instruction.

Thanks BCB and West Bank for the info and tip.Its 95 model, but it gets me on the water and still catches fish.

I would make every effort to not running aground in that boat, could exacerbate your problem.

On one hand not running it aground seems like a very solid idea…made me laugh to be honest..Ground bad, water good.On the other hand if you fish a river like I do good luck not rubbing sand(running aground) and getting to the fish. Aint gonna happen unless you like fishing community holes that are getting hammered daily.Fixed right you will be fine. Keep and eye on it occasionally but go fishing and dont hold back from reasonable fishing I say- dont be stupid but you gotta go where the fish are.Careful maintenence is the key and why you found the spots in the first place.C.O.D.
