Looking to be a first time Basscat owner and looking at the Erya. Dont have the big bucks for a 250 or 225xs so I was wondering if I would be better off with a 200xs or 225opti. Would the holeshot be the same with both engines because speed is not my biggest concern? I know the Eyra is made for speed but I like the layout of the Eyra better. Any suggestions would be great
For the price difference, I dont see much gain. The holeshot is great with the 200 xs. You could easily make up the speed difference between those two motors by just having the prop worked. I have an eyra with 200 proxs and flyswatter had one with a 200 SHO. Mine will run 70 with a tournament load and 72 with light load. I think it could go faster if someone had the time to play with it.Mine is for sale right now. BoatIf you have any questions on how a Eyra runs with a 200 feel free to ask.
Roy do yourself a favor and look at Jeremys rig. It is by far one of the best looking Bass Cat colors I have ever seen. He will save you thousands versus a new one. I drove Flyswatters 200 powered Eyra and was very impressed. Hole shot was quick and it ran low 70s comfortably.
From our take which one do you want. It really is that simple, not based on performance either. When you pull up to the ramp which one do you want people to see on your rig. Our take is obviously the 200 is more than enough ponies at around 220 for many. The STD. 225 is about 230+ and ranges some. The Pro XS would be our next step in the 225 (245 range) and you may prefer the in-between horsepower just so you get that good inside feeling and that counts most.
225 Pro XS is a great engine, and would be worth the extra, imho. Alot of difference from the 200, and not much difference on top coompared to the 250, maybe 5mph ? Im running one on my 08 Cougar AE, and absolutely love it !
