It is like a custom tune. A good prop guy can lean one direction or another on top end or holeshot. It isnt cheap and varies from 1/2 the cost of a new prop to full cost. Typically they are manipulating the blades which a lot of times that means thinning them. You tell them what you want and they can do it if they are good. Most of the time it is unreasonable to ask for things to get better on both ends though…not saying some cant do it but most cant from what I have seen. The only con is they are going to be more fragile and when not if but when you tear it up you are going to be more pizzed Judd Lasiter
The Prop Shop, Lafayette,LA.. I lost my phone with the numbers, but Ronnie Gilbert is the contact. My experience with them has been nothing short of miraculous, and worth every cent. D. (This is where P.A. sent me !)
I had the prop on my Cougar blueprinted. If nothing else the prop will be properly balanced. My Trophy Plus was brand new and was out of balance. It will add more speed or make for a better hole shot, depends on how you want it done. It can be done to actually do both to a limited degree. I had mine done by Mark Croxton of Shelbyville, Indiana. He does a fantastic job and has a three day turnaround. Mine was done about 1.5 years ago and cost $195. Im getting a new BayCat, but doubt I have the prop blueprinted. I really dont think the gain, to me, is worth the money spent. He does do a great job. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/marksprops1.htm
I have an 03 BayCat, with a 08 250 ProXS. The 08 Pro XS replaced a 250 XS that kinda went south on us one morning. Cannot seem to get back up to were I was with XS, and was considering Blueprinting my 25p Trophey Plus to mybe pick up some speed. All the prop talk is new to me so I”m learning as I go.
What is the peak RPMs you should see with a 250 Pro XS? With the Mirage or Bravo are they 3blade, or 4blade? And what are the benifets of a 3blade or 4blade?
The Mirage and Bravo are more than just 3 and 4 blades and there is a difference in the blade and hub design which is more than a simple comparison. The recommended RPM range for peak torque on the 250 pro XS is 5850. BCB
