Wanted to join in on the board! I got a few months now on my 2004 Cougar FTD 225 Opti. What can one say but, BassCater for life now. I live in Austin, TX and fish mainly Lake Austin, Travis, Amistad, ect… Lucky to have so many good lakes here in Texas. My boat was orginally James Niggemeyers ( BassMaster) , then bought from him by my good friend James Roberts.. and now she is mine! It took me about 7-8 trips on the water to get a handle on her at 10.0 trim and WOT. Last week I hit 74.1 mph GPS, but it is still warm here in Tx, so I will keep trying to beat that once it cools down. Having a hard time controling her in a sweeping turn at that speed though.. I guess it takes more time. Anyway, just wanted to say Howdy to everyone. Take Care, Eric

Still a nice looking boat and probably was never driven that fast by Niggemeyer. Thats a fact there!

I saw a ton of BCBs on Austin last week. Thats a tough lake to get all there is out of that boat — wait until you get to Amistad where you have some room.

Hey, Im a novice but maybe some of the expierenced guys will either confirm what Im saying or not. But it looks to me you might be triming a little too high, at least on the picture. Maybe thats why its a little hard too handle at speed.

John, Hmmm.. Possibly. I am new to a boat of this performance level also. I would have thought for Maximum speed, Maximun trim ( to get the most boat out of the water ) Handing the boat at this trim ( 10.0 ) takes some practice, but I got it down. The problem is making a long sweeping turn, that is when I begin to loose control. I will check next time out if a lower trim will run as fast, but turn better. Thanks, Eric

A sweeping left turn will reduce chine walk becuase it counters the props tendacy to push the hull of pad to the right. Thats how I started getting some control over 70. Once I started getting the feel going fast with the left turn it became pretty automatic on strait runs or turning right. The problem at Austin is some of those bends you have no choice. Plus the criscrossing wakes dont help either.
