IM BACK. I have been realllllly busy lately. But that doesnt matter, cause im back now. SCHOOL is going well. I am actually doing well in my AP Calculus class! ( as some of you remember, I struggled with some classes. haha) I went on college visits this past weekend… And they told me while down there, that I got accepted to 2 out of the 3 schools.. SO FAR. Missouri University of Science and Technology and Mizzou. I am waiting to hear back from Kansas State. What major??? MECHANICAL ENGINEERING. I am excited for college, But I dont want to see High School go…Two out of the three schools (MIZZOU and K-STATE) both have Fishing teams.. so yup, I am set. =]Hopefully I didnt miss too much while I was gone??? How is everyone doing?Dan Yonan. ———————————————————
I would hate to say it but UIUC is like #3 for Engineering in the country. I would not want to go to school here though lol. How about the University of Texas or somewhere where the fishing is king? Maybe Bama?
Lets see… Im three Hours away from home (Mt. Home that is.. lol) At Rolla… PLUS! Like 45 mins away from LOZ at MIZZOU. and 8 mins away from tuttle creek lake at K-State… College is definitely there to get your education to move on life… but its not all about being nose into books… I want to be in a location where I feel comfortable and that I enjoy myself where ever I end up. Price is another thing… Rolla has a placement rate of 90% and ALL MAJORS are making about 60,000 right off the bat. which is nice… soooo, just going to have see what goes on.Dan Yonan. ———————————————————
YB, that drive from Rolla to Chicago isnt to bad either. Just far enough away but still close.Who knows maybe Rick can set you up with some sort of internship when you are ready.
I WANT THAT SOOOOOOO BAD… Doubt it will happen, but you never know.Dan Yonan. ———————————————————
Missouri University of Science and Technology at Rolla is also very good engineering school.I dont know about a fishing team but they have a school sponsored shooting club. The mining engineering class gets to blow things up which is very cool
Go to school and get that degree these lakes are not going anywhere nor is all these boat builders across the US. Buckle down and get that degree and maybe a masters in your major thats what it takes these days to get a job , it looks better that you went the extra mile to better your education whether you want to work for BCB or be a school teacher, get all you can cause like i said these lakes are not going anywhere nor are these tournament trails.I think if we all had to do it all over again wed stayed in school as long as we could have , your young and the world is wide open for ya,but remember its what you do when you get there that counts for your future take advantage of that.
A degree is ultimately what I want. The best education as well. I just need a lake or a river or something to go to if I need to vent or blow off some steam. Fishing is my stress reliever. Even if I lose a big one while fishing, it still helps me get my mind off of things. Water calms me.Dan Yonan. ———————————————————
YoungBlood:Allright!!!!! I am very proud of you. Your education is paramount and it sounds like you have your priorities in the correct order. I think you are making good decisions and are wise beyond your years. Study hard, fish hard, stay away from wild women, and stay away from alcohol. Well, at least study hard, fish hard, and stay away from alcohol. Ok, Ok, Ok, Study hard and fish hard. I will say that you should stay away from alcohol, but you may not listen to me. I have seen alcohol use in college develop into very severe problems, both in college and in later life. You better stay away from drugs, or Uncle Corky is going to have to come up there, and you do not want that!!!!Much like you are planning, I used fishing as a stress reliever while earning a masters degree and my doctoral degree. It really assisted a great deal to grab that ultra light with a rapala and a worm rod (all that I owned at the time) and catch a few bass on Saturday mornings. My bass rig consisted of an inflatable raft powered by two oars. I was in much better shape due to oaring all over the ponds in South Florida and I was loving life. Yep, fishing helped me be a happier person and I earned great grades due to having a wonderful stress reliever that did not come in pill or liquid form.Your college years are going to be a great time in your life. It will seem like hard work, but you will probably look back on your college days as the best in your life. I know I fondly remember my college and graduate school days. Have fun and enjoy the ride.I would be very proud to have a son like you. I know that your parents are proud of you, and I know you will do great. I am very proud to know you on the Bass Cat Page.Uncle Corky
Thanks Uncle Corky!!!! I appreciate all the kind words. I just had a grin from ear to ear. I would be delighted to have you as an uncle of my own! Haha, but really, thank you a lot. I really mean it. Your BCB Nephew, Youngblood (a.k.a. Dan)Dan Yonan. ———————————————————
