Cougar was actually the lighter of the hulls, even though all are the same length. The earlier Jaguar was the first 20 footer BC came out with. It has the solid one piece console, so unless you find a dual console, that option cannot be added to the earlier Jags. The layout was good with lots of storage and bracing for a big rough water ride that still made you feel like a Cadillac ride. The original Cougar followed shortly after the Jag. It too had solid floor mount console. It was lighter than the Jag, and generally faster. The Cougar FTD followed and that is where the consoles became the “floating” or removeable. 2003 and up models are able to get a passenger console option. The Puma came to the top of the food chain when the Jag was retired. It still was a few pounds heavier and had a different layout as there was a net storage built into the front deck.Of the boats, Cougar then Cougar FTD were considered one/two for speed. Puma and Cougar FTD were not that far apart, and Puma was considered better riding. The original Jag was simply the best all around at the time. The hulls have been “tweaked” by BC over the years but the length/beams have been pretty much the same. The layouts are different with different storages, underseat or not, bench seat or buckets, underseat fuel tank or twin rear tanks. The choice comes to what you can find, afford, and need in terms of storage.Hope this helps some and ……..Good Luck!96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
