Which boat to buy??

Hello everyone. Been a while since I was in the forum but I am returning to freshwater fishing from the saltwater scene (as far as boat ownership goes). I am in the market for a new boat but I see that BC has manufactured a few new boats since I owned my 2002 Jaguar. I must say, I am torn and hope to get some feedback from some of you. I do plan to stick with BassCat but I do not know which boat to buy. Do I go with the Puma FTD, and gain 4-5 MPH (best I can tell), or go with the massive new Jaguar? Can anyone tell me what I can expect on speed with a 250 Pro XS on the Jaguar? The size of the boat doesnt bother me at all except for storage in my garage. I am going from a 32 Contender to this so I would imagine they will feel a little short regardless. Help appreciated from anyone that has gone from a Puma FTD to the new Jaguar would be a great help!! BTW-I love fishing tournaments so that would be the primary use.

Go with the jaguar and the 350 verado…..that would smoke your contender.LOL

I didnt go from a Puma to a Jaguar but I do own a 2010 Jaguar with the 250 SHO. I run about 72-73. I havent tweaked it much at all and I do feel there is more speed there because my boat is loaded very heavy. If you have any questions about the Jaguar feel free to ask. Not sure where you are located but I am in NW South Carolina. The boat is big!!britt

Get an EYRA with a 250, nice rig. I do not have one but been in one.Did I say I liked my Sabre? golfen

I think this is a question that only you can answer… The new Jaguar is a very big beast that will run in the low 70s w/ a 250 ProXS and has more bells & whistles than any other bass boat as standard equipment..I think the only way is for you to look over/ at and ride in all the choices BCB has to offer that interest you if possible..The Puma FTD is a fantastic rig but so is the Cougar FTD or even the Eyra all in the 20 class also a legit choice could be one of the smaller brothers being the PIV or PII that can handle big water very well.. There are so many personal preferences to “Like”….

The Jaguar is the ultimate ride with a 350, though some tournaments frown on over a 250 and some up to 300. A 250 will pop the 70 mark empty with a Pro XS. Most we say are Upper 60s to low 70. Nothing compares to the Jaguar. The 20 hulls are faster for sure and tow much easier if tow vehicles matter. A Contender is not fuel efficient and these two rigs do vary in fuel costs also.

I would go the Jag with the 250. 70 is fast enough in my mind; I havent seen a bass yet that could swim that fast.

Great info. Thanks a bunch. Gasbasser, I am in Richmond VA. With the collapsable toungue, any idea whether that thing will fit in a 24X24 garage with a 4 kickout on the back that the motor will slide up into? My 2002 Jaguar fit with the toungue extended by 5 inches or so. Also, I think the 300 or 350 would eliminate me from a lot of tournaments.

jasjr, That is possible on the 300 & 350 engines and it sound like it will fit your garage and especially with an added 4 offset. BCB
